Idk if the extra defense is really that big of a deal? I’ve been using a lvl 30 Intel robe to 81 for the last year on HC and have had no issues. Almost all solo climbs too.
Well, when you take +2 int difference to the defense of the robe, there is a difference, especially normal level 35/40 robe with 40 int vs a level 55 padded with 38 int.
I notice the difference using a level 40 Scale with +47 str vs a level 45 Plate with +38 int with my melee/healer build... and I need to shrine a shit load more using the level 40 scale (for damage) up to 73 & 75.
But again, I chose more int for healing vs the +47 str and 2x% HM of a level 40 scale. So +2 Int in my opinion is kind of pointless... but then again... if the 40 int was on a level 50 padded robe, I would consider it more useful depending on the side mods.
Here is a weird off caster chain as an example:
Angelic diamond chain mail
Level Req: 40
Physical Defense: 33 to 82
Magical Defense: 0 to 25
+11 Intelligence+1% Critical Flux
+2% Power Shot
+21% Ice MasteryNow... it is only +11 Intelligence, but for an Ice Caster, it has an extra 21%, not only that, it also has 21% Ice Resistance. And yes, if this armor had MORE intelligence it would be even better right.
Is the 21% Ice Mastery better than +21 Intelligence for damage output? ... now the added +11 Intelligence gives more damage... but... (a lot of buts aye) the +21% Ice Mastery gives you defense vs Ice casting monsters.
Choices... the armor I posted is roughly 32% Ice casting damage and 21% Ice Resistant. Again... speculation... the Crit Flux is helpful for both defense.
Again... perception and interpretation... I have a +38 int chain with +16 Vita being level 45... and 0 EE, but is better than the armor I posted.
