Can someone explain to me how the fish nerf affects mirror maze?

Also just did two climbs tonight back to back and no DC's. I know people say it happens to them but problem seems genuinely "fixed" for some people.

Would love to try an MM just to experience the content!

Because now you can't attack and spam fish anymore. Especially in the final fight.
