Yeah I kick non-healing casters too. I will keep doing so even if you call me BM. What do I care? I'm elitist, you're privelegied to join my groups.

I kinda figured all characters have badass healing charms anyway, everyone can just sort of heal themselves right?

i hate casters that dont heal! Before your gonna get ur caster set u have to get a heal set. if u can only heal thats fine by me but only casting? NN!

Why would someone who knows how to play the game need a heal at low lvl? The two mage's that where in game did decent damage and might play the game like I do, not healing until lvl 15. I can heal

this is quite the stupid thing to say because as you can see in the screenshot the player Hey died. so healing would have helped there imo?

and 10 year olds slashing?? wow :

Let me just clarify my play style, maybe this will help ease the tension between the two factions.

I melee until monk. I know it's not advised and many complain about seeing monks cast, I don't give a shit, it's how I play the game and I enjoy it that way. Get off my nuts already!

While I am playing melee, my gear is in my vault. I can go to town for a max of 5 seconds, switch gear, and be right back in the heat of battle. I may have missed a mob or two, no big deal, I make up for that with my burly swagger and finesse with the blade. I would also prefer to have every character with a large mana pool CASTING and roasting through the mobs from level 1-20, this way I can pick off any that did not die. I also try to make it my mission to kill as much before they can, and usually I am out leveling them if I am on my game and paying attention. I also have no problem at all carring ONE or TWO MAX items to use in the shrine, IN CASE SHIT HAPPENS. Normally I don't need to, as I am slashing away and gaining levels quite rapidly from 1-20 that there is no need for a healer. This is the norm 99% of the time, and yes, 1% of the time I may actually need healing. I don't worry about it that much, not nearly enough to leave a nice run because I dropped below half life while I was at 80% to level up...

While I am playing caster, I cast from 1-20. I do carry a heal at 10, but I may have used it twice last season out of 20-25 or so casting climbs. I normally tell people "I have a bad heal, please use shrine if you can" and you know what? I have NEVER had someone complain. If an emergency situation (EP) pops up, we adjust as necessary. If I am casting and burning through waves, mobs are dying faster, people are gaining EXP quickly, and everyone is happy and leveling up as they should be. Occasionally I have to go to town and shrine, but again, this takes like a max of 5 seconds as long as you are somewhat organized. I don't miss any EXP because casting makes up for it. After level 20, I have sufficient heals to carry most groups to MQ safely, although we can sometimes run into problems. That is to be expected, and I appreciate any healing help I get.

Rick, I am not trying to simply disagree with you, I also did not know the whole scenario, perhaps you actually died, who knows. One thing that comes to mind is your armor, if you were using that unspawnable T1, then you take a LOT of damage... have played with you before, and I remember you actually NEEDED a healer. Most people upgrade as they go, so it's not as big of a problem. Also, not telling you to upgrade, I know your armor kicks some butt, just making a point about defense, if you were the only tank then yes you would be getting beat up some.

Same goes for James and Victoria and the rest, I see your points, I just have a completely different perspective I suppose. Not purposely trying to argue, just trying to let people see both sides of the fence. I will say that carrying a heal is a great idea, but it goes often unused during those levels, and that is not a bad thing in my opinion, the game is very quick paced at the low levels.

It bothers me that this post makes you seem to come across as "above" using the shrine. It is extremely useful at lower levels as well as throughout the climb. Just don't be a ninny and shrine gear, and you will be all set. I am sure after all this that you guys will kick me now, because I will tell you to shrine while I cast away killing more mobs at a faster rate than you can due to multi-cast and also there are far fewer immunes at low level, so casters are very quick and efficient then.
It is efficiency, nothing personal at all.

End huge post. Time for some coffee. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone or harm any animals with this post.

First thing I did was buy up all the best in game Dex Gear I could get my hands on... ;) Anyway, on to my point below:

I will comment here because yesterday I actually played my first “Pick Up Game” since June of last year (shame on me for playing with friends—nn flames). A few ppl that randomly jumped into the group were doing about 1/5th my damage. (Realize I was upfront by myself as the main tank, healing, and doing high end dmg—did I mention I was also on a mule). The guy asked some elementary questions throughout the climb. I kindly answered and at some points gave advice that he didn’t know to ask yet ;)

Moral of the story: Ironmind reset ladder this week. He is the poster child for LS recruitment here: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=51294798&f=115&o=0
We’re getting in a large amount of ppl revisiting or trying LS out for the first time. If I had 20,000fg and tried a game out for the first time, I sure wouldn’t spend all 20,000fg on my first climb. I’d want to see if I liked the community & liked the game. Once I was “Sold” on this game, then I’d make the investment. As it seems to be accepted to make a smartass comment about Italy’s shape (Not singling you out Amber--I know a ton of ppl that do this and using this as an example) and boot ppl with FG from the game, realize that they could potentially be the guy buying all your gear for sale during his next climb if he liked this game.

Long story short for the TLDR ppl. If you are unhappy with the amount of ppl playing LS, BE NICE & HELPFUL to those you come across in game. Giving 2 minutes of advice could yield IMPROVED & LONG LASTING SLASHERS in the future.

So I might be in that mood but this just rubbed me the wrong way and want to point something out.

I see time and time again that members get rude to new members, I seen it when I started and still see it today.  I know that it will never stop but sad to see a respected
member that works hard on this site doing it.  I see some TT's helping in game and would like to thank them along with the members of this site that dont have a TT that help new
members.  So with that being said time to let you know

PAPARICK  aka MR. CRANK

You pushed a button...    YOU SAID "19:36 Crank> I have very little use for casters that don heal"

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh93/kvlieger/Flamingpaprick.png

Why would someone who knows how to play the game need a heal at low lvl?  The two mage's that where in game did decent damage and might play the game like I do, not healing until lvl 15.  I can heal
if the players I am in game with are new but I dont plan on healing unless I need to.  I know there are many casters that play like this.

Q:  WHY ARE THERE NEW PLAYERS?
A:  TO SEE WHAT THE GAME IS ABOUT OR TO MAKE FG  ~NOT TO GET RIPPED ON BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER.

WHY DID THIS PUSH A BUTTON?

I have kids and they are starting to play the game, keeping mind that all 3 are under 10 years old.  They enjoy the game even tho they dont understand item mechanics yet.  They
each play there own char on one account I set up for them.  I know that other members of my guild have kids that are starting to play as well and I'm sure that they
are not the only younger kids playing.  So when I see flaming towards players that are not playing the way you feel they should it pushes a button
.

Let me know what their names are so I make sure I don't play with them, thanks.

And also, who cares? Everyone knows how Rick feels about casters this season, and mages should always carry heal charms. Hell, even on my Rogue I bring heals. <_<

My name is jlhromeo and I approve this message. B)

I've always been for getting more new people playing, and I don't mind taking an extra 10 minutes of my climb to help them be a better slasher. I am in no rush for MQ most times, what the hell is one or two more GP anyway?

For the record, anyone that doesn't want to take time to help someone new can send them my way.

My 2 cents:

Ladder slasher and jsp are no place for children.
I let mine look at screen when browsing this section, figuring it'd be safe.
Nope, soft porn picture of porn star that the female monk reminded someone of.

And the rudeness and language in catas are exactly what I am trying to steer them away from.
I let them drive my solo catas, and my 6 year old fishes, but /dnd is engaged.

You are correct, a 6 year old should not be playing this game unless it was like you said. JSP has age requirements I believe (been a while since I signed up) for this reason and many others.

I wouldn't let my child play this game or browse this site until they were old enough to know how to deal with the general public, probably 10-12 at the very least.
