First of all try a hardcore character as you only play softcore :) thanks

100 vit is overkill imo thats the part i really didnt like
i did all quests(the ones you can get) with 75 vita on a tank rogue
never went below 75% life

But putting 75 vita on a rogue isn't all that much difference than putting 100 vita on a barb. Depending on the amount of stats you have to begin with a barb will reach 100 vita by lets say level 25 where a rogue will be 75 vita around 25-30ish lets say.

Now the only difference is which char you want to play in accordance to the weapons you will be using.

IMO its all preference. Not everyone has the tank armors that lets say TJ has (first person that popped into my head with lots of tank armors). Therefore is you have lower EE armors and want to put 100 vita, by level 60ish you will still have 140ish str with mediocre gear..So you damage won't end up being all that bad.

Was the 100 vit overkill, or was your 10,000 fg armor the overkill?

I guess we just have a difference of opinion on the subject.

He doesn't own a armor he spent 10k or more on.

I spent 15k on an Int robe.

Most tank armors are worth under 5k. The only ones that would go over are the high ee leathers/scales at 45+.

you havent seen my armor so you dont know the value
and with the 75 vita it was way more than enough because i had a nice armor on
im not saying anything is wrong with the guide, i gave my opinion is all.

oh and klitz
you cant assume every person is going to be using a barb
and a barb is a good reason to not put so much into vita because of how high their base vita is

Barb Tanker:

Best Weapon to use: Club.
Reasoning: Ratios and the stat setup for the Barb

Best Armor to use: Scale or Chain.
Reasoning:
.. Scale for multi defensive attributes when using Intelligence on items
.. Chain for more minimum physical defense than Plate, also note to use Vita stats to increase your base physical defense.

Best Stat charm to use on Main Slot: Vitality + Intelligence
Reasoning: with the new update, it has been mentioned that dexterity no longer provides physical critical defense (Please note, this is not 100% confirmed)

Best Stat Placement for your Barb Tanker:

Base:
60 Strength
25 Dexterity
05 Intelligence
60 Vitality

From level 1 - level 16, put all points into Vitality: 75 Total Vitality:
Note: If you have MQ'd with this character, you will remember to only reach 75 Vitality maximum

From level 17 to MQ, all points placed into strength, this will help with your barbs damage using clubs

Modifications to look for on your items:

Weapon: You need EE and preferably another stat to help with defense like: Vitality or Intelligence
Armor: You need EE and preferably another stat to help with defense like: Vitality or Intelligence
Main Charm: You need to find one with both stats: Vitality / Intelligence.

Starting out:
+ Life / EE ... TierIII items can make you survive up until level 15 when you will need your EE gear etc.

i played a bit hc when it first came out and did one mq. but i prefer softcore, so i stick with that.

How silly...  100 vit are fun :) tanking is important to the functionality of groups

maybe on hc, but on softcore i even think samu/pala have a lot of wasted stats with their 50/55 vit that would be better placed in str, dex or even int.

tbh i like this guide more as it is short and understandable and will be read by more people then the scary wall of text.
i have the impression there are a lot of people on jsp who have adhs or dyslexia and have a hard time reading through something that exceeds 1000 letters.
only thing i disagree with is the charm. str/int or str/vita would be better imo. and a short introduction on how to play the char is also missing

Character is played by clicking on those red figurines.

It seams you haven't read a book for some time. You should try it. It's fun.

The main ideea is to make a balanced character but that is made by effort and after many climbs. If you think the new players can just use 65 vita on a tank without ripping you are totaly wrong! First you need a high amount of experience to lower the vita and higher your gear and knowledge. End of discution.

Totally agree --- nice to have a good tank in the game B)

Once editted, this could be a great guide and hopefully help people get back into HC

As for tanking and doing melee dmg --- I do it better than most on HC and neither deafboy (alchemist) nor tjtoughguy (monk?) are right --- tanks are valuable --- better with dmg but still very VALUABLE to a TEAM even without dmg B)

This ofc :) The more the vita the better the tank is :) never go for less than 75 and prefer 100 or 125 :)
Rest into dex or str depended on what is needed for your weapon. High life/str/dex/vita charm in main slot and a sexy club or axe in the hand. Nothing beats that.
Armor for a tank will be a scale/chain with as high ee you can afford.
If low on fg and bad equip then go for the higher end of the vita and you still are very usable in a cata game :D

Those were my 2 cents.
