I only well in guild only. The person who throws the well gets his item back and the sides are open for anyone to click. We follow this rule religiously. However, if SuioMdl has a sexy drop the guild has decided to snipe his. He's found 2 items in the past week worth 10k+ and 20k+...

And yes, all you can do is hope people are decent enough not to grab your wells if you are in a pub game. Therefore, if you well with people you don't know, it's a chance you take. If you're willing to take that chance, be prepared for some dishonorable jerk to snag your items.
"Cool story bro" time: Back in the days of no-maze, someone grabbed a 55 100ee+ plate when it was my turn. A friend in the game checked all the chars in our no-maze and found it on a trial member of OTM. When my guild leader made a thread about the theft in the Catacombs section, Boolarse of OTM PM'd me and said he would investigate. Less than an hour later, he had gotten my item from the thief, put it up on the MP for me for 1fg and even sent back my 1fg. The thief was also kicked out of OTM that day. There are good people in LS, past and present. The gang from OTM was the best. I just wished they were still the slashing guild they used to be.
