To stop me from "Shrining" / "Trashing" my items, I tend to stick to some basic rules.
1. Switching Gear:
... When switching (using the CTRL+Click), I ensure that my gear is in the first 3 blocks, this way it will auto switch in place of changed items
2. Transferring / Shrining for quick run:
... I transfer all gear back to mule (or Vault) before shrining, this means that when I do go about shrining, I will not have gear on.
... In case of having higher level gear on also, I will transfer off other gear, and put next level gear in first 3 blocks (check others) and then dble check my shriners.
Note: on some occasions, I have my vault full of shriners, so the gear that is in my inventory is all GOOD items, so transfer what needs to be transferred and then get a shrine from vault, this way I know the Type / Tier and Magical Level.
