for sure. great prof and good gear is much more useful than great gear and good prof.

It is preferenced that the hybrid melee heals. You may also be suprised to hear that you don't really need to heal in a really high end group. Basically, the mobs can't do dmg when they instantly die to MegaCrits. Believe it or not, when our speed climbs are done, the first heal isn't made until we are about level 45 or so and it's just a few heals cast per level. The higher end the group the less of the importance of a dedicated / quality healer... (For this reason a hybrid melee can get away with a few lower quality heals and not bother the cata casters)

The formula is plain and simple and used for a quick general estimation. No need to complicate things with a multitude of variables, etc nor continually spam my thread with the point. Most ppl generally equate 1int=iee. Leave it at that for we all know the ratio is curved and not 100% linear...

I'm surprised it took 6 pages before someone caught that little typo ^^

I believe he was thinking you use 75% of the Mana cost, which is 25% reduced cost. He just got his thoughts mixed up. Just a typo :)

I have 5 in my prof. I cast conservatively in catas. I also can heal (for 500-600avg usually, I know it's not GG but it works.) People don't die, and I do a fair amount of damage at the same time. The ONLY problem I have is if we continually hit EP's, but that takes a toll on any mage's mana pool.




So my rebuttal, you *CAN* cast at lower prof, you just need to have some common sense and not burn all your mana by 30% of your level. I cast conservatively, unless we have a healer with us and I dont need to heal, in which case I blast away. Very rarely do I go through my mana before 90% of my level. However if I had your gear and your prof, naturally it would work better.


Just don't say you cant, that will discourage people from even trying. All it takes is for the caster to actually understand the game and also to pay attention to not only their mana pool but their exp bar.

(p.s. glyphs help a lot. and "mega-crits" is such a bad term)



All in all it is a nice guide, but I think it will discourage some people from trying. (paparick would call that a good thing?)
