I respect your effort but these contests are always problematic, always turn out to be more trouble than they're worth.

I say give him back his 320 fg and keep the rest for next stage, but that's just me.

i think its fairly easy to say already..

I cannot see where he cheated. As for the donating part, he donated before making the s/s or finding the dagger. If he found it, sent the fg, then took the s/s. The s/s would show 1,040 fg and not 750. Aside from that, even if he found the dagger, sent the fg and then took s/s and it was updated with the fg, what's the problem? Whether he knew he'd win or not, he still followed the rules layed out with finding a legendary dagger in the arena. I don't see where him donating has any sway whatsoever on whether he should win it or not. If all are in a agreeance that it's not photoshopped, then he is clearly the winner.
