GeForce GT 1030

thats a fanless 2gb vid card is it not? what cpu and ram are you running? :s

regardless of wether it is fanless or not.. if its been more than a year. you need to unmount the heatsyc and clean the chipset and apply fresh thermal paste. i can guarentee its all crusty and cracked right now.. even on the cpu.. every year.. my thermal paste of choice is "arctic silver 5" you can order from amazon or get at most computer shops.. it is slightly expensive but worth it.. ive never had an issue or ove temp with it on anything ive put it on.

it may just be time for an upgrade? depends on your overall system? do you have a speccy screenshot?

via pm we figured it out..

it is a slightly older socket fm2+ A10-7800 cpu system. ram was okay, power was okay, ssd was okay.. drivers and updates were okay. the problem being that it is a cheaper acer "cookie cutter" system with no heatsync on the southbridge chipset. once this chipset hits higher temps it would cause the visual screen tearing/image stacking as the throughput would auto restrict itself due to heat. over time, this would increase in how often it happens and will eventually cause complete system failure.

I suggested a small $400ish upgrade; keeping the current power supply, ssd, and case. Upgrading the motherboard, cpu, ram and adding a m.2 ssd. (ryzen 4600G, 16gb ddr4-3600mhz, 1tb ssd, asus micro atx business class motherboard)

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Canadian_Born/saved/64NNpg all from the zon due to location, and availability of computer stores/box stores. ($390ish).

the incorporated graphics from the iGPU, is comparable and moderately better than the 1030 they are running currently. the listed upgrade is further upgradeable in the future, should he want to add a better video card, upgrade to a 5000 series cpu, and up the ram .

ill be assisting virtually should he need it once the parts arrive. help swap all the old out and get the new upgraded system running for them :)

case, power supply, and ssd are fine, was trying to help keep costs down.. the motherboard, cpu, and ram will be pulled and swapped with new.. ( i also provided an extra windows 7 key so they could download a fresh installer for windows 10 and activate a fresh install on the new ssd.. )

he will also be able to complete the free upgrade from 10-11 should he want to as well

lol yes.. hot potato... the older southbridge chipsets for the fm2's could almost hit the equivalent temps of a convection oven. highest temp ive ever seen on a southbridge chip was 175*F which had no heatsync...
