Yes and no. I used to have that same white netgear router and it's crapola, at least mine was.

As far as the light, mine had a button that enabled/disabled the wireless, but it didnt work right, maybe that's what it is. Also, 2 of the ports in the back stopped working, so instead of being a 4-port router it became a 2-port and started randomly disconnecting. I had enough, bought better ones, and chucked it out the window.
