from the tests i did right after the ratios were implemented i can tell that more stats are still always better. and thats what paul said in his post aswell.
so to answer your question: yes, you will be doing more damage even though you dont match the "perfect" ratio.
for clubs/swords its like this:
having a lot of str gives a good base damage
having a lot of dex gives a lot of crits
the best results of total average damage will be achieved if you meet the perfect ratio without sacrificing either stat just to achieve it. more overall stats are still better
it is increasing your crit chance ofc if you put more points into str.
but it is not worth it on daggers, because you will lose a lot of base damage. so you might crit a lot more, but the crits are lower and your total average is lower aswell.
This sounds good, but doesn't seem to actually work in game. Unless the damage from the different weapons is no longer comparable. I was recently in a game with a "melee" mage. At lvl 25, they used a 113% lvl 25 dagger, a 20 dex robe and 30 dex charm. They were doing ~360 avg damage. I was using a 152% lvl 25 axe, a 19 str/18 dex armor and a 45 str/30 dex charm. I was close to the 50/50 ratio(if not exactly 50/50) and the mage was very very far away. I was doing ~390 avg damage.
I can only make 2 assumptions from this. Either axes get the low end of the deal by only having 50/50, where one stat point equals ~0.5% ee and daggers get ~0.9ee per point of dex. Or there are some bugs that haven't been worked out. Still throws your theory of more stats are better, considering I had almost 2x the stats he had and my ratio was much much closer. Unless you mean to say, that ~40%ee in weapons and ~100 stat points only equal ~30 average dmg higher.
