My 2 cents:

I think Rick was right.

I agree with Vicky and James.

I wont get on my casting melee craze b/c i got beat down but I think new players see everyone casting and think that's how they should play. Few people have Stok3d's gear and can cast well as a sami etc.....but when I see new mages casting doing 9 avg with 22 crits my blood boils. If the community wants the game to grow we should slow it down and help new members. Tell those casting mages with no heals doing 9 avg that they should heal and they will be more accepted in groups. I dont know about the rest of the community but my tolerance lvl for bs gets slimmer as I level.

I think the moral of the story is carry a heal charm, stop and help new slashers find a heal charm....if that is ignored find a new group....they will learn eventually.

Although some will disagree with me but not having a heal charm on a toon below 10 or 20 is stupid imo. I have one on my barb and he has 25 mana but I have 1 heal if needed. I will have to remember that the next time I hit Pinch at lvl 6 and I have a heal to spare....unless with guildies or close friends that CARRY A FUKING HEAL CHARM i am going to use my 1 heal on me.

not reading threw all the posts.

this is another reason i really miss arena. i had plans to set my oldest ( 7 ) up with his own sc char and let him at the arena so i could teach him the game.
he has been watching me since he was pretty little and loves this game.. asks all the time now why im not playing it.
i would not let him play multiplayer.. i dont think he should be in a group of people that are "older". not fair for him OR the others.

it is very cool to see others teaching their kids to love the games that we older people love. wtg man :)

my advise.. just tell the kids to play however you play and to ignore the other people in this game. other people suck anyway :)

You can still play solo in this game, even if it is no longer called Arena.

I'm not condoning what paparick did, yet merely asking your opinion because I had a situation happen to me earlier.

Member was a 40 mage.
Using a 36EE 35 dagger
Random armor
11 dex tier 4 charm

Seemed to be a new member, yet had 4.5k fg.

When I mentioned what he needed to buy/do, he said "Why would I spend my fg on this game"?

Do I keep him in group or kick or explain what he needs to do or a combination of these?  He seemed to know that he could be carried and be just fine.

Actually has happened to me twice today with another member with very little fg, yet was "in the hole" fg because of a loan.  They were using gear on a mage that enabled 100avg damage with max 28x.  Do I keep, boot. or explain?

I had the same problem with this earlier today. I was the runner and I didn't know what the most appropriate thing to do was.

The Mage was about 40 also and did not have a heal charm and only casted. I would've been fine with that I guess if that person contributed with the damage but the crit was only 248.

So at 40, a Mage that doesn't heal but hit 248 crit. What would you do?

I refuse to apologize for this.

If you are a caster, you have mana. Use it to create dmg as required, but also use it to keep your team mates alive.

Note above my comment -- we had a death. Caster had lots of mana but was any used to heal??:

NO

I decided to make my comment and leave before I was the next casualty.

What stops you from healing?

It always amazes me how bad you are at this game and then refuse to play with people that are on your level :D

I would kick someone if they had several thousands of FG and were wearing crappy gear. Why put in the effort to "carry" someone if they aren't even going to make an EFFORT to improve their characters?
I remember being in a group with some guy who seemed like a new player, really bad gear. Come to find out what the leader of the group /who'd him and noticed he had like 10kfg++
He was kicked. and when I mean really bad gear, I actually mean if he had used white/plain items every 5-10 lvl upgrade he would have been better off
We dn't need people like that in this game who use complete shit items and don't want to spend a single FG to improve themselves.

ofc if it's a semi- good group, I don;t mind crarrying a newer player with crap gear if the person IS TRYING to improve themselves. What people tend to forget is that THEY too were once a new player to this game.

I remember starting this game with ZERO fg, and am very thankful to those that helped me.

as for healing at lower levels, it is not needed with the current version of the game. Pick up a shrine or two and heal yourself. I start healing at ~lvl15-20 when I am playing a healing type character.
IMO, it's just a waste of space/xfer time to heal at really low levels. Ofc, I am entitled to my opinion. ;)
...especially since leveling from 1-15 or 20 goes really fast if you have even a "decent" group.

kiddisch softcore maneers , good job .

on that level no char needs any heal . u should have ee on your armors , and 1 shrinables fills like 50% of your life. you think u loose some diamonds out of your great crown if u go to town for 1 second to shrine up ? - oh i forgot, u are godly, u dont use shrines , neither ee armors. U also have a lot of guildpoints , u deserve the rights to play with the top 10 slashers only .

even a melee can heal on this levels. yeah ive heard there are maxmana items around , and heal charm for the acc slot. even melee are allowed to use !! i think u never heard before, right ?

i lold. rick sorry, but u made a fool yourself with that comment .. get adult its about time

there are plenty of players starting ls on hc and i try to help them all, even if i have to shrine up 3times a level , we do slow catas then. why ? because i got helped alot when i started , so i do with other players.

Players which got helped and supported, stay and enjoy the game , others played with you i guess..

I play mage only atm .. and OMG I HEAL AT LOW LVLS
eq=
2xx mana dagger/staff @ 10+ swich to int
2xx mana robe @ 10+ swich to int
ee dmg charm
ee HEAL charm

thats how a mage/caster should go imo
but in games where i am there is nn for a 2nd mage/caster who heals ( 7 - 9 eps only ^^ ) the 2nd mage/caster should go full dmg ^^ and sometimes, only sometimes should give me backup healing ^^

sry for bad english guys ^^
