I agree with you here, trying to break down who has the best items in all these categories is just dumb. I mean who cares if you have the best lvl 15 heal mastery sword. It is so watered down at this point that it is pretty much meaningless.

Item's best list to me has been more than a place to boast. I don't buy items that are useless to me to get on the list to increase my numbers. I buy items because they are good and make a difference in my climbs for what I intend them to do. Honestly, I take Item's Best list more as a shopping list to easily track down items I need for a particular situation. Many ppl utilize Cole's efforts in this regard and this service he does for the community is much appreciated.

I'm gonna add these and ee armors and maybe some other stuff later today, but I'm also going to remove some categories most likely, mainly just so I can get people to stop bothering me about it. I hate adding more sections not because I don't know where the items are but because the list is so cluttered that its lost all meaning,"oh you have 1 of the 10000 best items? Sweet dude". Pimp-marios original list contained something like 15 items and it actually meant something to own one or more of them.

So why not make an item list that means something? I'd propose a true Best Items HOF with a 10 person unbiased oversight committee. 75% vote or better an item gains entrance!

then we end up with the problem of a subjective judging system.

That is half the fun, it will turn into a bunch of name calling and slanderous comments, then eventually it will disintegrate into nothingness and all knowledge of where items reside will be lost.

To define what is "Best" needs to have definitive guidelines. I believe the systematic approach Cole has taken works to remove opinions from the matter. Everything is clear cut--no second guessing. The rules are set in stone. A 69str armor is better than a 68str armor with 1600life & 12CS. He overcomes any 'shortcomings' with honorable mention. Honestly, I really like his system.

If this is something you feel deeply about, feel free to head it up! Cole's efforts are simply a thread and there aren't restrictions to other ppl creating threads. The idea sounds interesting; however, your greatest strength (opinions) could also be your greatest weakness. I'd be curious as to the amount of crai threads that would originate from this though. Realize ppl would call bias from those in the 10 person panel, fight about which mod was 'truly better', etc.

In my book if an item has only one modifier (or the equivalent of 1 modifier because it's other modifiers are insignificant), it shouldn't be removed. It is too subject to nerfing. I'd remove any magical items from the list post haste.
