I say FUck this idea

Let's see Groups will be weaker and caster gear will sky rocket in value

Why will catacomb groups be weaker you may ask well i know personally if this was implemented i wouldn't let any one even look at my melee gear let alone use it.... and i'm sure those with Good Melee weapons would do the same or just retire there.

I've worked hard for my gear and for you to suggest something that would try to make them completely worthless is a huge Fucking joke. How is that supposed to give melee a benefit it's not its aimed torwards killing the want to have melee characters... This has to be one of the worst suggestions I have ever seen in this forum in over 2 years. I don't know if your just getting desperate with your ideas or what but for fuck sakes give it a break, and i don't mean to be a dick about this either... I'm just fucking amazed that some one would even suggest something like this..... The Majority of my old core guild members quit due to the Muting / Ls nerf I'd hate to see the amount of players who would quit in retaliation to a Update like this.

 before getting hot headed, how about asking yourself some questions.

1. Have you ever done 250 MQ ATTEMPTS (key wording, not GPs gained, actual MQ attempts)?
2. If you answered YES... did you use the same weapons with every character? (the simple answer is NO)
3. Since you collected some great items... how many MQ attempts have you actually done with them?
4. What is your highest Melee Rank, and what weapon is it in?
5. Take #4 and tell me how many MQ attempts did it take to achieve that many Ranks?
6. By any chance did you Upgrade your items during the MQ attempts (most like a yes on this)

After answering those questions, you may come to realise that it does not take much to rebuild your empire of items.

With all due respect and I mean with all due respect.

This might be one of the most retarded suggestions I have ever seen.

I won't even bother voting.

Well... simply put... thinking outside the box is not your strong point.

Yeah because grinding non stop and still using terrible gear after you have been here for a while means you are a real straight shooter.

You got nothing on me trust me. Thinking outside the box does not equate to "oh man let's get rid of a bunch of peoples gear they worked hard to achieve or paid for". That just doesn't go over well.

 If I want to do a cata run from 1-71... I can setup my character to be effective (pure melee)... If I know that I am only playing in intervals while no-one else is on @ my level, i build my character to solo and also help cataruns (melee/cast/heal)... and I do all this with my so-called crap gear (to you)... that is the difference right there... I can utilise what I have available to become effective either way (solo/cata)... not dependent on these so called godly items that you seem to be clinging to.

You play HC... stick to it... ohh... I do not rely on glyphs either... I personally think they are a waste of fg... even though they come in very handy.

So did you get any insight from answering those questions?
___________

Please note people... there have been some good suggestions on 1 or 2 previous pages that can deal with all the gripes/moans and QQ's over the loss of gear.

Options that could help keep the item alive:
1. Reset ladder can reset MQA Durability
2. Implement a stat on the weapons: Increased Durability or Indestructible
3. Implement a Ranking bonus to have: Increased Durabilty (1% per Rank, 30% Rank25, "Indestructible" Rank50)

You see... instead of QQ'ing over the suggestion, think outside of the square... this is only a suggestion to get the brain pumping.
It is not a debate topic... just a discussion on an idea that sounds ridiculous, but may have some merits... or you may use a segment of this to come up with another suggestion that would be better.

Thank you all... love to hear more.

Those ideas are only as strong as the weakest link... The main idea, which is absolutely horrible.

what happens when an item is traded?  does it retain durability from other peoples uses?  if it did, it doesn't matter if you have ever done 250 mq's or not, it just has to see 250 mq's

what about if you trade it before you mq?

these are things that need to be thought out properly

I believe you have skipped over my post. how do you deal with these things?

some of us may never have done 250 mq's, but our gear may have. when you're in a guild that's anywhere near worth being in, we share gear. just because you have reached monk and can't use your sword set doesn't mean it's not being used. it means that it's on one of your friend's characters and is being used. This update would discourage sharing of beautiful items and would encourage hoarding.

I am a person who always enjoy reading suggestions to improve LS. The polls are made to guage the community's intial response. With that being said, it seems we are quite polar opposite on something I've considered in the past: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=39874474&f=272&o=0#p266499330

With that being said, I guess you can understand why I don't support your idea. The inital biggest selling point of LS was the fact that my items never disappear. This also is part of the reason I will never play D2 again. If LS items were given a timer, I would quit LS until Paul decided to backout the update. I believe others would follow.

Thanks for the thread, but I am strongly against this in any fashion.
