SInce average (over time, not per attack) damage is the only thing that's of real relevance and 180 > 118, I'd pick the sword.

I might be indifferent if they had the same amount of EE (and similar side mods) but since that's not the case...

Little test I did. Ok so with this stats and this 10 hits i did this is what i averaged. Is this logical?

Strength: 108
Dexterity: 75
Intelligence: 10
Vitality: 50
Stat Points: 0

10 hits with a sword compared to 5 hits with a polearm would be logical, since that takes the same amount of time

This concept isn't hard to grasp.

The sword has around the same end dmg and it also attacks twice as fast. It has around extremely close to the same avg dmg of the polearm.

The only way the polearm could possibly be better is to have the same EE. Because then the avg dmg would be the same in terms of 2 full turns.

Dagger/Axes are the best weapons in the game. Most consistant damage. In the time compared to a Sword you may hit for a low 5-200 damage hit, meanwhile the an Axe you are gauranteed good consistant damage. Even if the Sword hits for a critical, over time the axe will get criticals and keep a steady damage. Everytime the Sword hits low the Axe gains damage on it. It's the exact same when comparing Daggers to Sword too.

The biggest thing about using Axes and Daggers is that they can be used by every class accept: Warlock. (Alchemist obviously doesn't have a weapon slot)
Most useful weapons in the game and have the most well-rounded damage in the game in my perspective.
