although most newbies tend to go for barbs anyway so they staves don't actually get a lot of use, even from them.

As for those who are arguing "weapon restrictions" - I would like you to take a look at Paladin..
I really don't see much of any weapon restriction there, TBH.. No other class has as many weapons
available for use as the Paladin..
