Sounds more like your scolding a new player for not figuring everything out on his first climb, he'll learn after a few runs you don't need to slow down and tell him everything, he'll figure it out. I think getting carried through a few MQs is a great way to learn what this game is about, and that is spending houuurs clicking without any bathroom breaks.
As far as making FG from LS, I played this game for about a month and found and item I sold for 2k, another item worth 1.5k, + a bunch of small things... my 2x Diablo 2 runners found about 50-100fg a day. So FG from here and D2 was fairly even.
Interpretation is solely based on the individual.
There are two ways of thinking about the run.
1. They could have increased the speed of the run increasing their killing speed by informing the tanker to pick up higher tier armor to reduce the damage taken, thus, the two healing would spend more time on killing instead of healing.
2. Should have taken it to Skype or another communication software to aid him and the group by conversing naturally. If they had no means of conversing verbally, then they could have asked him outright to pick up certain items to aid himself and the group prior to engaging.
Either way, it is now past, and he has gained insight by the way of this thread and its' comments as well as experiencing the run. Now, he is ready to better himself for the next run, and the people that helped him will most likely carry on helping him as long as he improves based on their information and others.
