I've tried that a few times and it's not worth it

My ee weapons are about 50 ee lower on every lvl after 35 compared to my ee charms and I still do a bit less dmg even on paladin who has no good dmg abilities

It's definitely worse on monk and ninja since you can already get 3 normal weapon abilities

The only classes that might get around the same dmg if using this ability are samurai, paladin and maybe rogue and you have to find to golden ratio of ability % to get there

So to sum up, in the best case scenario you'll have around the same dmg, but most likely less so there's no point in doing it really

And yes I got your first post, I'm talking about a completely normal melee char with stat gear and no points in int

There's probably that super specific 1 situation where you're tanking as a samurai or paladin with ee armor and you got some bonus int on your gear that might get you better dmg using that because your dex/str are too low

I dont get why, it can only be full melee + use some ability points into the off cast ability...
if i was ever to go for this, i would def. not approach it like that.. i would make the build as the build should be done...

i would ofc, think about melee stats, but def, also get int. in, either in some hybrid gear like dex/int charm, ee/int armoors. or just purely use my stat points, even tho i would prefer to get it from gear, as some stated, we dont rly need 4+ k mana in endgame, wich you would have if u stat up to 70-80 ish int from your statpoints..
it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, ot be using a casting skill and not concider INT..

do it right, or just dont do it. full melee with added off cast is the wrong way to do it.. making the hybrid build would be the way to go.. about dmg output, im pretty sure, no matter gear lvl, if you get the mixture of melee stats + int. it will work, and i am pretty sure you will make more dmg overall, as casting is just superior damagewise...
and you dont need to charge it up to 100+ % to get the dmg out, CUZ WE INVESTED IN INTELLIGENCE!!!!!!!!!!

So, please stop the arguing if u dont do it right, it is just a waste of time.. hybrid dmg output must have hybrid gear setup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plain and freakin simple!

Get on my level!!!!!


Edit ; only issue with this kinda build, is gettin the right kinda gears.. but if you have the gear, i have no doubt in my mind, that this kinda build will be able to compete with them regular melee builds of same class. dont take this into the extreme, i only talk about classes with natural off cast abilities!

Thanks! When did you test it last? Paul claimed he buffed the abilities. Could you do some further testing in the next climbs?

Can't say it was recently, when was the buff? It was probably months and months ago, might have been 1 year

I could do more testing, but that would get in the way of my attempts for 0/100 :D

I said that I did a freaking whistle climb like 90%% of the players.


So basically you did a speed run without any difficult monsters that would actually test the build, used some of the best gear to ever spawn, and refuse to listen to outside input.

Thread is basically a loook guys the build is viable for the elite if they are doing a speed run thats only real purpose is GP/mq generation and completely leaves out the bulk of the game.

Good testing :) keep up the good work :rofl: Im sure this will work just fine for all the mediocre players.

Re work your setup for the group... go with Tank/Healer (using off casting) or build it based on stating Int and cast / healing / melee... you will most likely revert to casting more often than melee, during low mana periods, you will rely on melee and healing.

So the idea is simple:

Stat armor for melee
EE weapon hopefully with a stat for either damage or intelligence, personally, I would go Int
Main Charm... simple enough, EE and hopefully with another stat on it for either melee or even int.
Acc ... EE is simple enough.

Put stat points into int = 75 HARD maximum. Rest to wherever you want.

Test this out with your gear, you will notice the diff

Im unable to test this as I dont have melee gear but EVEN IF I DID Id use an efficient build over one like this. Work smarter not harder. Any way you slice it, attacking and casting is more effort than doing just one and when someone with best in game gear only gets a minor increase in damage (50 avg dmg increase) that tells me all I need to know about it.

I would contribute to it if getting climbs were a bit easier for me. Also there is usually a huge gap in gear one way or another. I'll give it a shot at some point.

People arguing about the gear is just salty players being salty. I know what you're trying to accomplish here and I appreciate the initial testing.

I have this bad boy to do a test with someday:

Angelic wind XIV
Level Req: 55
Spell Damage: 29 to 132
Mana Cost: 109

+30 Strength
+54 Intelligence
+2% Experience Gained
+1% Glancing Blow

Used this back in the day to boost my heal charm on pally when I would solo it. Then chaining monsters went away and so did my healing on melee characters.
