Brandon's quote from James is both classic and precious. The tributes flowing into this topic are deeply touching. James will be greatly missed by Labyrinth and friends. I am still only something like a half hour away from getting the news so I have been fighting away tears on and off and it's difficult to post. I also wish to share something from James, which comes from his profile. It has always affected me:

"Goodbye Lucky. You were such a good faithful friend. You will always be loved and missed. September 4, 2011 12:45 pm.

Goodbye my dearest Sable. We will forever miss you "talking" to us. So many happy days we shared. We will always love and miss you. December 4, 2013

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

September 8, 2011"

I truly hope he has met them at the Rainbow Bridge.

When I joined labyrinth many moons ago he was the first person to reach out, introduce himself and tried to get to know me. I still remember the pm he sent me on how upset he was the day I left laby. He truly cared about people on this site.

There are very few things in the world that bring tears to my eyes.

But, I can proudly say this is one of them.
James was like no other, and there will never be another like him.
He was blunt, but honest. He was a faithful friend.
He told you like it was, and after he was done telling you how it was, he made you laugh and smile.
Men like James are rare. And while his passing saddens me, I know that he has had a long fight, and that he is now resting, pain free.

R.I.P my dear friend James.
You will be remembered.

My deepest condolences to James' family.
He was a really great guy, we had some good talks on vent. Slashed like a beast.
He could rant like none other.
You will surely be missed in this already dwindling community my friend.
Give my Love to Buf
