Oops, my bad, you do get less proficiency for combating higher level mobs. This is correct, I forgot. My testing didn't immediately show it because the proficiency at 0 (higher probability to gain points), and the TD didn't drop me down very far (random).
Anyway, yeah, this is correct, it's part of the "trap" of the door.

i mean "less" in this case is very close to nothing...
I think it's because of the following:
Falling down a TD = -1 to +3 or 4 monster lvl. Making them a tad easier or harder to kill.
If it's -1, you wont be gaining prof, obviously. Depends on the individuals lvl.
If it's higher you will.
The harder monsters are higher lvl. In wich case the harder / special monster(s) might drop a much higher lvl item.
I believe all this combined is why Paul said: "it's part of the
"trap" of the door."
