Honestly, if this is a problem in groups, encourage ppl to stat 1 point into PowerStrike and save it for EPs and Shaman. I can't imagine that that when the shaman is nearly dead and someone uses a 200% powerstrike that it won't die no matter what the EE is...

Maybe this chart below will help in the planning (selfless advertisement & I keep it copied in my profile) ;)

Well, I would disagree, I think powershot is overused.

Spec what ever skill is good for your character type, as hitting more than one target makes this objective significantly doable.

I would just personally rather have higher cross strike, and double strike as a monk, than even put 1 in power strike hoping to hit an EP before I town, or swap gear, but that is just my opinion :)

besides, double strike does the same damage as power strike if its used against one target.

One point isn't going to kill you. Neither is two, for that matter.

They were new players, it would be terrible of me to kick them.

Everyone starts from somewhere Bobb, and some players start LS with no fg.

I have no problems playing with a new player, as I build my characters correctly with + vit.

i would even goto MQ with a new player in my group as long as it didn't GROSSLY slow the group down.

A lot of my "elitist" stuff was just comical trolling of a very sensitive community, but the true elitism does irritate me as it does drive away new players.
I don't expect everyone to play with new players, as lot of people are very serious about LS, I am more casual, and I would enjoy to casually play with new players.

I guess I have different goals in mind when I play LS, but to each their own.

Aye, everyone does start from somewhere. This game is an RPG. Most people who play it have played an RPG of some sort or another, such as Diablo II. Anyone who's ever played an RPG knows that gear is a defining point in the game. Anyone who can not look at the most basic aspect of gear, damage, defense, and spell damage, and quickly spot an upgrade is not a "noob". Their fg isn't an issue. They're an idiot. They don't deserve the 3+ dedicated hours of people who invest many hours a week into the game.

I'm not talking about gear, or forum gold, or how long a person has played. I'm talking about basic intelligence. If a person is too stupid to understand that an axe with 25-30 damage is going to be more effective than an axe with 15-18 damage, and rather tha picking and switching, they let the tier V go poof, they don't belong in groups. They belong in school. :)

Its pointless though, I'd rather charge double strike and cross strike that much faster than hope I can fill powershot once, besides, as I stated double strike does the same damage as powerstrike when used against one target.

I agree the "newb" in question requires school, my only difference of opinion is that I can provide that school, or at least a "second grade lesson"

Kicking them without direction isn't really going to accomplish anything outside of self serving faster climbs.

Different approach, same resolution.

Example:

User was not aware they could use XX weapon instead of YY weapon. User doesn't understand different magical mods, and doesn't realize how poor their gear is in 5-10 levels.

*edit*
Though admittedly, as I said, its clear I just have a more casual approach to the game, where as you prefer very high end play. Hopefully you don't consider this an attack on you, or your gaming style, just putting my two cents in text.

Write a guide. Link them to it, kick them, replace them with somebody at least using gear appropriate for their level, and complete Shamans.

Wow, I like this problem solving bit. Works well!

No offense taken. I merely find it difficult to understand the mentality of "helping out a person wearing no ee tier III gear at level 22". Even if you're attempting to educate them, wouldn't you have said right from the beginning to get higher tier weapons, and anything not highlighted in red is usable? I dunno. Simple game played poorly quickly kills all patience. :)

If you are afraid that group cannot beat shamans, then 1 point into powerstrike for a person or two will help. Max your double strike, cross strike, and put a safety of 1 into powerstrike. Encourage one other person in your group to also gain a 3rd skill of 1 point into powerstrike.

Doing this will eleviate the need to run from that quest. When I play, I stat, skill, and choose gear according to my group makeup needs. I know I may be a unique case that I can cast/tank/heal/melee/hybrid on any class. My point is that I do what's best for the group I'm in and not "what is good for your character type". It's a bit different of a philosophy and it works well with us cause we maintain the same group 1-71. However, if you realize this shortcoming in your climbs, save yourself the frustration and place 1 point into Powershot...

Regadless, I commend you for helping out our newer slashers. Time to leave from work to go home--take care :)
