Once again its the best hybrid dagger FOR MY PURPOSE'S. What is best for me may be trash for you.

Who is crying? How about you try asking someone if they want your opinion before opening you virtual mouth?
Or better yet, ask ANY question at all before running me or anyone for that matter down.
Who the hell wants to listen to ANYONE who is just passing judgment in a trash talking manner?

To everyone else in this thread, I am sorry. I am usually a very nice guy but all I ever see from this guy is negativity in just about every thread he posts in.

next time post this is the best dagger for my shitty setup
instead of saying best hybrid dagger
thanks

and my posts arent always negetive, but yes i do say some things that might be considered pg-13
didnt know this was pre-school

Might be #1 Hybrid dagger around.

Key word's MIGHT BE. As for my "shitty setup" that of course is your opinion (Which nobody asked for....AGAIN).
Let me tell you a little something about opinions......
Opinions are like mouth's..Everyone has one and everybody wants you to listen to there's.

Next time READ before using those finger's to voice a opinion that I (and certainly many other's) could give a crap less about.

My setup works very well for me and the many good people I play this game with. I dont get kicked from game's and I dont hear negativity from those I slash with.
Hell, your sitting here bombing on me and you havent even done one MQ with me. Why dont you do some research on the people you bad mouth before hand??
Thanks.

There was a time when Hybrids were characters that would kill via casting until mana runs out then deal melee damage to regain mana (via mpk or level up) then back to casting. A good hybrid could do both melee and casting damage at a powerful but almost equal magnitude.

To me a stable character does not define Hybridism, it defines a stable character. In my simple world hybrid is a character dealing damage in both casting and melee weapons. I know it has lost its meaning over time but I retain the original concept.

And the definition stable also comes into play when mentioned. A stable team has sums of unstable characters that build the stability, I.E a healer/caster/melee etc. A stable character is a character that on its own can form a lesser degree of a stable team. Furthermore I tend to plan ahead for my climb, 90% of the time it would be solo, therefore I build my character around self sufficiency and survivability (maximised against speed of course). If I am relatively certain a group is around the corner, I would save little to whatever my team mates would have covered and focus on the missing link (in terms of gears and stating).

Things are getting really serious in this thread. I am tracking it and I plan to read it nightly before I go to bed, most likely with my milk/cookies/blanky.

People have morphed the Hybrid term into somebody who attacks and heals.

If you wanted to be completely technical about it, it should be classified as this.

Hybrid = Melee and Casting

Melee Healer = Melee with the ability to heal themself.

Full Melee = Somebody entirely focused on dealing melee damage.

Melee Tank = Somebody designed to tank and is a melee.

Caster = Somebody who casts.

Full Healer = Character designed around full healing, character is kind of obsolete and even more so now with the new shrine mechanic.

No one does the Melee/Casting thing anymore, simply because it would take extreme gear to make that viable. And most peoples builds are based off catacombs now in groups so you have Melee/Healers, Tanks, Full Melee, and casters.

/agree

I have a melee/casting setup that I really like at a certain level range. (but then again each piece of it is worth 10k+ fg)
If anything I think melee/casting chars are due for a comeback with this update, with caster immunes at 60+ - having the capability to switch to melee is quite beneficial. However it is true that without extremely sweet gear this isn't a very viable option for most people and I don't want to see people sacrificing everything on their char in order to achieve a crappy version of it. (I can really only think of a few mq setups in existence where this would work beneficially tho)

Well, looks like this will be getting closed soon, although I can tell the intentions were good, the community has once again failed to rally together.

I classify a hybrid much like Rex does, in fact I like his definition, it seems to make a lot of sense to me at least. I will quote him, perhaps more can see what I see.

Pure Melee = a character that is built to deal the most damage that that class can yield
Pure Healer = a character that is built to deal the best Heal that class can yeild
Pure Caster = a character that is built to deal the most damage from casting as possible
Melee / Healer (Hybrid) = a character that is built with the intention to cause nice damage and also be able to yeild a good heal when needed
Melee / Caster (Hybrid) = a character that is built around casting damage vs melee monsters and melee damage vs casting monsters
Melee / Healer / Caster (Pure Hybrid) = a character that can combine all 3 areas to aid him/her self no matter what... It takes a skilled player to ensure that their mana pool is used wisely.

Simple, and yet effective. Well worded, even though I am sure there are more options, this seems to sum it up for me anyways.

Also before anyone can make fun of me and my gear, it sucks, a level 1 Toad could do more damage with a Cracked Candle than I could. Saved you the trouble of bashing on me. Continue on.

Not sure Dom if I'm the sort of person that misunderstands the concept, but here is what I consider my "Hybrid" character to be (still in the process of building the gear/set for fighter/paladin):

Gear-

Mythical ultimanium axe
Level Req: 55
Damage: 317 to 380

+200% Enhanced Effect
+33 Intelligence
+49 Max Mana
+10% Experience Gained
+1 Magic Luck

Rare petrified scale armor
Level Req: 50
Physical Defense: 17 to 70
Magical Defense: 28 to 86

+39 Dexterity
+60 Intelligence

Rare ice XIV
Level Req: 55
Spell Damage: 813 to 976
Mana Cost: 109

+222% Enhanced Effect
+57 Intelligence

This setup would let me do all the above, heal, cast, melee, I would just need to find a way to maximize the str/dex ratio for the best possible axe damage and still have a nice base for intel. Obviously I have not yet done the math, but I think even if the ratios are off it would still be fun as hell to play in a group cata :D

I could use this setup on Head Hunter too (except the charm ofc), but would not be able to cast, so thats what a nice str/HM charm would be for, but even that would be alot of fun too!
