nvm

It happens, and was probably pretty easy to overlook.

-- Anyway, my thoughts so far are all in my post immediately prior to this.

I've mentioned it already that I'm less comfortable with my survivability in this version, but if that's the way it is then we can adjust ( I hope).  I do have to agree that 3 EPs can be a bit much for solo though.  I sat on my 60 vit level 46 warlock using a best-in-core lvl 45 193ee padded robe out of paranoia and was still smacked down to about half life in a matter of 3-4 consecutive hits between the 3 EPs after easily tanking them for about 5 seconds before that.

It's highly unpredictable what any given mob will do in this game now.  It seems almost every monster switches between melee and casting pretty equally and rarely leans any more than 75% towards one.
I don't know what happened exactly on those deaths, but the top two links at least had high vit and pretty balanced builds that should  have made dying pretty difficult as far as I'm concerned.

It's not especially clear how well int/dex can be used to reduce monster crits anymore. I do have a lower dext at this point, which could lead to taking bigger melee hits.
On that note, I did quite decently tanking with that same robe from 45-71 being the only tank in a group on my monk with a somewhat more balanced build.

Well actually one of those deaths were due to "bad tp" as it were. That is to say 4 ppl ran due to big ep wave and one entering it not realising what he's up against. It is highly dangerous in my opinion to play in a big group in hardcore that is unorganised or is relatively new to the update. However in terms of soloing, this chance is non existent. I suppose this means that the tankers must therefore have balanced armor (like scale or something) to accomodate for the change and variation in charm to weapon attack. I've heard some scary things in terms of ambush and 7 shamans objectives. Not something I would be venturing to try out in HC anytime soon.

Yeah, I did have some concern with that as well. I think that's definitately manageable if the whole group is there when the EP hits, but what about when a 4th or 5th joins and doesn't realize everyone else just towned to avoid a huge EP? There are some play-style adjustments needed among all HC players for sure. #1 can be to always ask if it's safe before hitting the catas. (except maybe at times when you can obviously see it's ok)

Some of us are apparently paying the price of learning these things the hard way. Despite a recommendation to test on SC first I know most HC players either couldn't or wouldn't do that. For one thing, you'd need full gear (even if it were lower quality) to actually go through and learn the game again within the different level ranges and quests to see what bad things can happen. Personally, I've just taken extreme caution so far .. and it still almost hasn't been enough at times.

Well in terms of what Paul said I must admit I also didn't start the learning curve from sc, as I should've. Not to say I didn't have gear or anything there, it's just that I am as many of us here are, HC only. One other method of avoiding this bad tp is to simply stop for a moment when someone goes to town to shrine. I mean it takes 1-2seconds? Never engage unless everyone is in the town is a good rule of thumb.

Server shutdown woot! I get overly excited when I see those things ><

Might be a bad thing actually, because even though this game is fairly complex now, the true attachment I have to it is due to its simplistic beauty. I mean to lay back after a tiring day to just click can be strangely therapeutic. Paul's update on 1.20 brought me back to when it was as simple as turn based clicking. I feel that it is complex yet strangely simple at the same time, maybe I'm just too elated over this shut down, I did say I can get overly excited lol.

i think 3 deaths (~30 hc players -3) xxxk fg gone (244ee charm, 80 stat armor)

over 2 nights is evidence enough~ hc is not hardcore anymore its a death-timer :)

those are not the only deaths either --- be safe and stay alert --- do not go back into a dirty maze door --- once people run from a bunch of evils === 2 deaths that way already :(

A letter difference, this is where the dyslexic will out survive the non dyslexic. It is also has to do with probability, sometimes being the fattest just simply doesn't cut it.
