I think it should be best expressed as an equation. For every rank, it gets harder exponentially. So the amount of mq's are a function of rank. Or something like that, I just have a high school diploma

I think a mod should just close this thread because it's inaccurate and it's just confusing a lot of people.

Those charts are like random numbers to me.. no headings to tell us what they are :|

e2: just looked at the charts and I'm sure anyone could have put in random numbers increasing by 500 prof points and making a new chart recalculating everything... It's still pretty confusing of what you're trying to present.

If it is confusing, don't bother. Or read ALL the posts. Shouldn't be close just because YOU find it confusing. To me its helping and interesting :)

Something that I tried to calculate myself is prof points per hour. Or PPPH :)

I noticed that when I did not have to regen (levels 1-25 or so) I was able to maintain 900-1k PPPH. This was using only daggers at prof level 5 or 6, I cant remember.

Only issue with this type of calculation is the higher levels of regen or needing to use a heal charm.

In my case, to calculate:
Write down dagger points and heal points.
Slash for one hour straight (the hardest part, I'm only able to do that if I cata :P).

Then you could calculate

PP/H - Total
PP/H - Heal
PP/H - Dagger (in my case)

And since I don't need regen, it shoudn't be too hard. only "regen" I usually need is shrining.

I am an Electrical Engineer IRL. I can assure you that this remedial math is correct. I'm sorry that you cannot comprehend it--I've tried to dumb it down as much as possible.
Take note that I am simply using your proficiency points from last climb to calculate future values. This removes all other variables and makes it the best estimation to work from imo.

Either way, I did my original chart to satisfy my curiosity and make my life easier. I was just being nice posting this for the community and calculating out the rest. Hopefully my efforts will be appreciated by at least 1 other person on LS.

Good Day.

:D Okay... it is really simple

You will kill 5 monsters without healing
You then heal to full life
Then you kill another 5 monsters without healing
You then heal to full life
Then you kill 5 monsters without healing
You then heal to full life

See the pattern?

even if you were to only get 1MCC

You kill monster
you heal up
You kill monster

you leave to regen

You still gain 2x wpn profs than heal

idk why this should affect the average number of prof points earned PER CLIMB for heals....

if you maintain a consistent playing style, idk why it would be affected by how often you shrine or heal or regen - every chain at each respective level will be relatively the same if you don't upgrade gear or change playing style

Well, I'm noticing that with my climbing profs earned per climb are relatively close with the wells I pick up along the way. Below are my total prof from the last 3 climbs as mage:

Climb 1: 5393 Prof Points
Climb 2: 5228 Prof Points
Climb 3: 5316 Prof Points

Avg: 5312 Prof Points.

I now have a prof of 11 Lightning and find the chart below to be the closest to my 11-15 Level Range of 5312 Prof Points:

As these are the numbers I'm working, to get to lvl 25 prof I will need 12+18+26=56 climbs. Just consider this another example that I hope will make it "click" for you if it hasn't yet.

So what #s are other ppl getting?

Thats funny, I found it easily understood the first time I "read" his post and looked at the charts. I'm sorry your intellect is below average. These charts are both helpful and easy to understand. So in keeping with your logic of closing it because you are too stupid to understand, or too lazy to read the instructions. I think you should be locked and banned, simply because I find your posting annoying. With your logic of mod abuse, you'd get locked/banned now. Luckily things don't work that way.

How many CATACOMB climbs does it take to get to sword prof 20?

Quote (izParagonzi @ Feb 8 2010 08:59pm)
I wish I knew the answer to this...

How would we calculate it?
Section 1 = Without TDs
Section 2 = With 1 TD
Section 3 = With 2 TDs
etc

Normally we get like 1% xp (on bar) per 2 to 3 monsters killed (dependent if you have the final blow)

Now if we use this formula from Arena that I notice... maybe that could help equate it:

141 Attacks
060 Prof points gained
0.425% gained

Now... take 141 attacks for 60 Prof gain... is this the same in Catacombs... or is it less?

How many attacks does one does from their Rank# to MQ level in Catacombs?
___________

Then there are the EPs etc...

There is only one person that can answer

The answer is simple, write down your prof points for swords. Do a climb from 1-71 and write down your new number for prof points in swords. Calculate how many points you got for the climb. Find the chart that corresponds with that gain and what lvl prof you are at. Follow the directions for the charts.

Thanks for dumbing it down. Sadly there are some pretty stupid people that would rather flame then ask for more clarification on how it works. I found it very easy to understand(and I'm an idiot) and helpful too. Thanks for posting it up.

With my calculation and random gameplay, it should take me ~9 climbs to go from
5 (75.68%)
10 (00.00%)

On my heal.
If I don't die ofc :p

This is quite super charts to follow. And I like how you added the 1000, 1500 etc (wich works great for catas)!

This is one my main char 1-71 in Arena.

I used battle axes until 20, after that regular axes. I did about ~50 remaining wells as well so I guess my points are a little higher than usual

Prof Increase Throughout the climb

Climb 146
Start rank 19 Axe 4177 pp
Start rank 13 Wild Heal 13668 pp
Start rank 5 Lightning 1601 pp
Start rank 4 Battleaxe 1021 pp

Break @ lvl 35
Break Axe 6185
Break Wild Heal 13861
Break Lightning 1601
Break Battleaxe 2132

Break @ lvl 56
Break Axe 9244
Break Wild Heal 139 / 695
Break Lightning 1602
Break Battleaxe 2132

@ MQ
MQ Axe 11614
MQ Wild Heal 1943
MQ Lightning 1604
MQ Battleaxe 2132

Final Stats after 1-71 Arena (1-20 Battle axes, 20-71 Axes)
Axe + 7437 (There are no capped axes for every tier on hc therefore I have to hit mucho I guess)
Wild Heal + 2275 (not sure if this makes me a heal heavy guy, but 65+ I have the feeling I heal a lot.)
Lightning + 3 (because of my fat fingers, I cast 3 times a climb)
Battleaxe + 1111

Total Prof + 10826

Not sure if this was any of your interest but w/e here ya go full arena mq on hybrid hh on hardcore

That is nuts. Very well documented--It's of no suprise why you cumulatively have about the most profs of anyone in LS...
