it took me fucking foreverrrr to find a full scale set.
and i sold that 220ee scale for a hefty amount.

Just rambling thoughts...

Hardcore:
Because the initial stat input is based on Vita... for basically every character class and build... scales would be a viable option
Vita = Physical Defense (Thus increased defense)
Dex = Crit Defense (and yes HC places stat points here)
Int = Magical Defense (and the hybrid builds will undoubtedely be better off with scales)

Softcore:
Less points into Vita... all stat points allocated for the specific build...

Hybrids benefit more with Scale
Melee benefit more with Chain / Plate (character class definition)

Unique builds... well... times are changing... and I think either Scale/Chain/Plate will benefit them...

its not really efficient to use a scale if that char has only 5 int (aka a barb).
if you put a decent amount of points into intelligence it makes sense to use a scale, because the int boosts the base defense which is then increased with the ee.

so it always depends on your stat distribution.
vita > int => plate/chain
vita = int => leather/scale
vita < int => robe/padded robe

I wanna say chains/plates are better, did you compare with equal ee?
I see scale wearers tanking better than I can in the cata, but they probably have ridiculous ee

yes comparable ee when we did maze.
i had lvl 10 100ee scale his was 9x ee plate

I prefer chains tbh
They have high physical def and not a horrible amount of magical def.
Seeing as I mostly solo and always put points in int this works out even better.

If I was to use scales on a hybrid, I would end up with out of proportion magical def mostly going unused as there are less casters spawning.

And Riots, you seem to get very defensive of your scales. It's good that you like them, but the others are actually thinking about testing which is better from an unbaised point of view.
You seem to have your mind set already and are looking for ways of proving scales are better.

No, As you can see i told u i'd like to test up against any plate.
I'm simply stating my position and reaffirming it with my personal experience.

I climbed with both and like scales more than plates =D

I like armors with good mods, scale/plate/robe/chain/leather ... type is really secondary in most cases.
