seriously?
you hc people rave on about how awesome and dedicated you are, and yet you're completely happy with an alchemist quitting because of a bit of a nerf. casting is still doable.

Yeah because they aren't made for playing up to par with 1/720 odds. They are just not crazy enough.

My Road to Hardcore has been a pretty crazy one. I played this game before in earlier seasons but never really to any extent, then I started playing softcore and realized that if you put in the time and attempts that at the end of the day you will +1 your way up there...
I traded in the +1's for +2's because I figured LS is LS and I can click and get double the amount of gp's for a similar input, well that was not quite the case and my cocky ass ripped on my first climb. I got some great advice from some more established Hardcore players and I got handed a 64ee lvl 40 axe to MQ with it took me a long time to finish that climb but I managed to do 1 climbs like that and I found a 104ee 40 lightning, so after failing I started climbing as a mage. After my first pass I bought my daggers ~40ee along the way of my climb and got 7 dagger prof in my first sammy climb alone. After that climb I decided that it was time to go full hardcore.

Sold of all my SC gear, netted about 40k fg. Bought in on Hardcore started selling mutes/muting made 120k first month reinvested right away, similar story for the next month. After that the old muting changed to a proficiency. Then in may I had my second Rip which was a full team rip when the server dropped so our team -1 died, which kept me away from catacombs a long long time. It's where I started building proficiencies.

And now as far as people saying that you can die on HC, sure but you can use the game parameters to your advantage and make chars that can survive disconnects and whatnot. This btw doesn't take ridiculous gear but is all about damage.

And with that said, I have done 161 successful Hardcore climbs since my last rip, most of these in Arena.

Then as for Hardcore playing, a good guild plays a big part. As the 'guild-vault' plays into hand a lot here it is nowadays rather hard to get the best of the best of everything mainly because people don't sell. A good guild can help you fill in the blanks but at the end of the day it still comes down to clicking :) and as long as you click all will be well.

But hardcore on LS shouldn't be set a part from softcore too much it's just all about different choices you make, they both can be just as hard depending on the goals you set.

And always remember with great sacrifice comes great reward, and you need to be messed up in the head to play this game lol

I am not I think it deserves corporal punishment, if you are that lucky to get there as luck is the only way to describe passing 5 doors just pump out those mq's get the season over with and sleep for 4 months straight :D

At the end of the day, people ripping on datis must also see this he did 230 attempts on hardcore season 1 and did not reset as compared to the earlier seasons where these statistics would be impossible. He did his part and moved on, his influence on hardcore can still be felt.

So don't rip on him as he is/was #1 hardcore

Joshie has not quit as far as i know --- he is a resilient person and will be the person to reset HC imo

we had two major casting rips in our guild which took our top caster charms down and with the update it was really bad --- i have seen the top casters of HC taken down to mediocre play with the best gear from the latest update --- but I expect Joshie will make a come back soon B)

Playing alchemist as a healer in catacombs is not what most people imagine when they reach the top class in the game --- and with such limited gear on HC --- Joshie has made a valiant attempt at running the alchemist and if i were relegated to playing the top casting class with no weapon --- low life (HUGE PROBLEM IN HC) and play primarily as a healer which requires a group of 3-4 to be effective --- you might see how he has slowed his climbing --- but expect to see him back and in action soon B)

on a personal note --- some great time and experiences with HC starting with the Snail Race :fume: and when i died before my first hc mq  RIP

I would like to thank some of the most dedicated and longest members of the Syndicate family who have helped shape the best in HC --- Chadzjsp, Loneblade, Tamale012, Tweak200, Jmydcrkt, Camisadong, Myaddiction, and Imagomaisteri not to mention some of our most wonderful guild supporters --- roxthebus1, implite, wfgdark, dyingtickles, and ofc the infamous rims

I started out playing with people in Dream Companions and must give mad respect to Datis for teaching me about the game and how to understand the mechanics quickly and effectively. Lotsa love to all the HC guilds and the perseverance each member and guild has in light of the challenges of HC --- but those of us here --- also understand the benefits and the rewards B)

Keep up the great slashing and met many wonderful people through the slashing community and will support HC forever

personal accomplishments:

I have read all... yes... I am like that... it gives me an understanding to what some of the players think when gaming...

Even though I play SC... there are no differences to the game MECHANICS (please understand this... mechanics)... except that DEATH is death and you lose everything.
HARDCORE:
... To Cheat Death
... To Survive (well... if you leave a combat while only having 50% life... then that is just cowardice... run @ 33% life remaining
... To Gamble with the odds while having junk gear
... To MQ at least once... but you think to yourself... "yes... I can do this again... it is easier now that I have done it this time"
... Ohh look... I get rewarded with proficiencies... I can upgrade those to improve my chances... even if it is only 1% more... it is extra

I basically play SC the same way... and I play HC in D2 (well use to)... so I know the outcome.

I am also assuming (based on what I use to do in D2)... is hoard a 2nd SET... in case of death... is this another reason why the items on HC are harder to get?
Be honest now... how many of the top players in HC and top guild... hoard another set just incase of RIP?

There are two (2) major changes that have most likely made a few people stop continue'ing with HC
1. Muting changed ... and alot of the (not the sticklers) greedy people left... could not make fg etc (excluding the factor of buying gear to upgrade)
2. Addition of "Magical Defense"... meaning casters are no longer the cookie-cutter build for Ladder Slasher...

I noticed late last year the attempt to get some SC people converted to HC... with a prize of Forum Gold etc... this was a good idea... I am not sure
what the outcome was.. hope it worked out.

Anyway... can not see the two (2) things being changed back... so we need something else... specifically for HARDCORE... so just a random thought below...

A ONE off Resurrection FEE: (HOLD ON... READ ON)
The rules are simple:
1. Yes your character has been resurrected
2. This can only be used ONCE per ACCOUNT... that is right... per your account... not the character
3. You DO NOT have your gear on them... they are resurrected NAKED

Now you are thinking... "HANG ON... wtf is the point of that... no gear and all that... waste of time... so HELL NO!!!!!"
... the thing is... you come back with your proficiencies intact... and whatever class you were.

Now we can take it a little further by saying:
4. Resurrected as a FEEDER class
5. Resurrected with ONLY 50% of your proficiencies
_______________

Remember... only a suggestion for HARDCORE... I mean... if your character has been worked on for like 1-3 years and suddenly you die from some form of lag etc.. at least... resurrection can lighten the burden...

why are you trying to change it from hc to sc ?!
once your dead you remain dead :) this is how it is now and how it should be in future becaue this is HARDCORE ;)
