i believe any "change" to the market will screw one or the other.. no matter what he does.. in my bias opinion .. sc has so much gear.. it could afford a bit of a crash .. but again.. im very bias.
on a totally different note..
lvl 60 SUCKS with my gear.. im really wishing i had another empty slot so i could climb another wwga char so i could hope for a drop.. but as far as it goes.. reroll is just NOT going to happen..
wish this drop rate crap was a tad better.. now i really know why noobs are pushed into cata games.. there is NO way a new person would get half as far as ive gotten without quitting .. there is No drop rate and mobs are not easy LOL.
I couldn't agree more, this game is near impossible to start without FG. The only help for this is friendly guilds that lend gear. But should guilds really be the ones fixing the game? Or does the game need a change itself. But I guess this is normal for "free" games. Free to play, fun to play with $$. I mean sure, you seem to be enjoying yourself, just like I did for a bit with my mage(which is somewhat still going, maybe). But you said it yourself before, after this climb you wont do it for a while.
One of the biggest problems too is that you are doing this with a barbarian, the easiest of the starting classes to try this with, hands down. Dont get me wrong, I am in no way knocking you for it, I would have done it too except you were already documenting a melee climb at a fast pace. So I was trying to document a caster version. This thought process is actually what spawned my "feeder breakdown" theory. I can say without a doubt healing with no FG to buy items is completely 100% worthless in solo. Also since INT scales with gear, its not worth using INT as a defensive stat without a bit of gear.
Now keeping in mind this information, lets say you its day 1 for you and you decide guardians sound cool and you want to play one. But you dont have any FG and you dont have a guild. You might as well stop playing before you start. Then someone will say well you should have read a ladder slasher guide. 1 - Most of those guides are very old/outdated. 2 - I dont know about most people, but I enjoy the discovery aspect of a game, figuring stuff out on my own, at least in the beginning.
