The simple answer is this:

If you can clear the Trap Door with in the same speed you would a normal catacomb, then continue on. BUT, if you are struggling to keep pace with kill speed, it is up to you to re-create a new game.

Some of the people that have been posting the benefits of TD & Map clearing after dropping into a Trap Door have the gear to keep up the same kill speed. So, you have to test this out for yourself with the gear you currently have.
