Hmmm... okay I think that would be a crazy micro to make sure both are even numbers...

But yeah, unless there is some credibility to the "even number" thing...

Axes seem to use str + dex added together to determine damage and crit chance. So unlike other weapon types, it really doesn't matter which one you pump, as long as the sum is the same.

The strength and dex don’t need to be even. But don’t leave one of the numbers at an odd number. Like if your dex is 65, put it up to 66, because your damage only increases every second point.

from my point of view axes are really the best weapon because they are most predictable

I solo every melee char with Powerstrike skill, which increases single target damage by a lot; with axe I always know that 40-60% skill will give me desired total damage (unlike swords, clubs, staves, daggers even - because they rarely crit)

this way I quickly stack Powerstrike and use it before I get too much % so none of the dmg is lost - overkill

speaking of crit ratio, it is true that both str/dex are taken into consideration equally for the crit to occur which makes axes crit so much more often than other weapons; (same goes for all charms which just use only 1 stat - int, that increases damage and crit chance)

for newbies - in other words, axe tooltip says 350-400 damage? you propably are going to make 550+ average, daggers say 350-550? the damage would be close to the higher end

Wow! I’ve never noticed this lol! I wonder if this is a real effect or just visual and part of the reason why axes do more damage than the tooltip!

This part I have argued about before. The consistency makes it more noticeable and it is one of the most used and sort after weapon types.

I don't know who has been testing this tooltip with other types of weapons to say that axes are the only ones that do this, I have hit higher damage (not a crit) than the damage shown on the character screen (guessing this is the tooltip) displays damage, and that means the average damage is higher with Longswords and Polearms.

Not sure if anyone has done any full on testing about this either, since I viewed mine with hit by hit and ignoring any critical hits and abilities.

Not arguing with you... I haven't got a clue who tested this out, or even if they have the test data to prove it.

EDIT: noted daggers ratio is different from axes, and noted 50/50 is a contender for this being true.

EDIT2: and noted, I do use heavy weapons, that could also factor in.
