Would it not be easier to just increase ee drops?
I vote no, too convoluted and little need for it.

I at least got your point about this suggestion but I highly doubt about the sense at all.
I would always be happy to see new players on there who are not giving up after a few minutes already.
Im also always glad to help out new ones if it comes to donating starter items (but this ended up like you have described it most of the times)

Everyone of us had to do this step to get into that game at some point. This game requires will and patience but that’s where it already ends again as most of them doesn’t have that.

LS is not a game to make fg with in the beginning.

Earlier days it was simply a little easier to get into ladder slasher as there had been a lot of guilds playing this game and people either saw the „big“ community or just simple got told by friends to go for it.

Well put and thanks (not very many people can see past my posts, or should I say comprehend it :P )

Other than myself, there were "Many" other players that made "Competition(s)" posts to help out the community or even new players to the game. Now after a 2 year break, and even beforehand, there has been NOTHING posted in the sense of competitions or any threads helping out either the community or new players. This is when you know that the changes made to game has basically made it pointless to play outside of the people that are die hard fans or don't want to give up the items they collected for the years they put into collecting them.

I want to see if we can BRING in new blood to the game without ruining it more by changes. If we bring in level 60+ MQ items, only the people with gear will profit from it (not a new player), if we make adjustments to the mods on gear, again people that currently have them profit, so how do we encourage new players to the game?

I don't think many of the people comprehend this, we need more players to a great game, how do we start? I would have thought it would be good to give a new player a heads up on getting some crap gear without asking for a hand out from others or people just donating because they know that 5 or 10 fg can be made back just from selling off "shrine / skiller" items @ 1fg each.

Quite honestly, outside of your post and some others, most of the negativity from replies and votes are from people that don't quite understand how this could benefit themselves and the game as a whole. I do have to applaud people trying to be a TTim with posts and fail comprehensibly, never thought helping the community could be construed as a "cry topic" :roflmao:

Well, 19 of the so called 20-50 current players have basically voted. Let us see the end results.

The way to bring new players in is to increase drop rates, if you can self find gear and make fg the game will thrive.

This is Partially correct because the Drop Rate HAS increased to prior updates. There are a few changes that has made the game extensively easier on top of that.

#1 Whistle (in the past drivers would just rotate on the spot). Whistle means a Wave of monsters appears INSTANTLY in comparison to the old "Rotate" method.
#2 Towning during a group climb to shrine (previously you could not do this). Personally, this should ONLY apply to solo climbs including "Regen"
#3 Drop Rate % of higher level classes killing in group helping out lower level characters. Basically, higher level Character kills, & drop % remains & Tier lvl is based on lowest level character in group.

#4 Basically there are a lot alternatives for making the game more enticing to new players, maybe higher level character receives same experience (-3 or 5%) of the lowest level character in group.

Positives, we already have higher Drop Rate, but also Events. Higher character level a group should not be at a major disadvantage when helping others, even in completing MM when they have not completed it?

Note: basically rambling, tl;dr... all good, at least I can say it is a :bouncy:

This still doesn't fix the issue that most of the gear is in the hands of hoarders/veterans who use them and next to no items enter the market, its extremely hard to get into ls simply because decent gear is so rare.
There is far more iso threads than selling threads, even the best equipped players are still trying to improve their sets and next to no new items enter the game.
If just 15 new players entered the game right now there would not even be close to enough items available to gear them.
Drop rates need to rise or the masteries need to go so that ee actually drops again.
Ls was at its peak when you could actually play it without fg investment and have a reasonable expectation of finding usable gear.
A good sword set 3 years ago was 10k, now a good sword set is 50k.

Your points are valid to an extent, so let us take your statement 3 years ago when a "good" sword set was 10k fg vs 50k now? Is that based on the Player base at the time? For me personally that isn't the case because 3 years ago, the player base was similar, or worse than it is now, and I am talking about only 20ish active players vs 30+ now... so why did the price go up? My answer is simple, those 50k sets are basically older shit that people were hoarding and wanted to make their FG back.

There are many ways you can spin this conversation, but I am not a newb to the game. To establish an increase of player base which will also increase better items, the current game mechanics Drop% is WAY higher than 8 years ago and a hell of a lot more easier than then.

Debate it all you like, the reality is that some of the updates (as good as they are) has benefited the game and also killed it in other ways... and yes, like when each "Element" Mastery was introduced, that KILLED the % chance of finding better gear, I stated this when it was first introduced to make it a one entity... "Element Mastery" just the same as "Heal Mastery" being for ALL type of Heals, shit, you may as well fuck up the game more by having "Focus Heal Mastery" instead of "Heal Mastery" etc.

Not debating your concerns, as I am also in agreement with some of them, but, the game has a hell of a lot more Drop % chance than it used to.

Dunno, I found more 100+ ee items in my first month playing than in the last 3 years combined.
I found four in one day back in 2008.

Not sure when you started, but I know that the player base was around 4 times larger than it is here at its' peak time of around 50 online. Hated the old snipe item in catacomb or the oh damn did not see that 150+ ee item as it disappeared from sight before clicking it. :) Oh well, past is past, but we do need a higher player base.
