i've played this game a year and never seen you. Really shouldn't make a generalization of "bad changes to gameplay" or the possibility of other problems to prevent a positive change that could be made to the game

If you actually read the thread, you would see that the disconnection issues cannot be solved as of now. This is not the ultimate solution to that, but instead of losing your 150 dura rod to some bullshit dc, you instead lose some dura on it. I don't see how you could not be thrilled about this update?

Thanks guys, I have coded this up, and will do some testing on it, and hopefully roll it out Monday. This may or may not include the durability change, as I did change it so an instant disconnect aborts the fishing attempt, rather than breaks the rod, which will probably be a majority of the cases where it's been a problem.
