I would like to hear from more top fishers but for the almost 15 ranks Ive done there has been nothing that suggests it being actually caused by anything but RNG.

Not that I have ever achieved any fishing rank above 5, but when I did fish, the only time a fish (3) escaped me was lag, based on the 3-5+ second responding time of the message saying it "escaped".

Might be worse now though, graphic packet transfer speed is slower than before, so are the images of dropped items, and this is NOT including the text damage of monsters hitting you compared to your attack or healing text messages (basically I have seen monsters hit me or heal themselves three times before my auto attack or heal shows text message)

im positive the escape is random, like the ???? in glyphing, like the essence you get in muting, like the % you get from suffusing .

Yes and what you seem to not be understanding is your limited experience of fishing from multiple years back is both incorrect and outdated. I rarely if ever lag on LS. I still get plenty of escaped fish. THEY CANNOT BE LATENCY RELATED WITH NO LAG AND IMMEDIATE ACTIONS.

I literally cannot find another way to tell you ESCAPES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH TIME GOES BY AFTER AN ACTION. I realize the thought of a random negative that you cant control is hard to wrap your mind around but thats how it works.
