Short note: If you don't like the update, doesn't mean you have to quit. You can still stay, play and complain.

No blast.

The neweat version isnt really liked.

Speak for yourself Alex.

I love the new version, and I take a lot of flak for actually enjoying it, I think because I am not one of the elitists that used to solo 1-71 Arena in an hour or two. I have worse gear than a lot of the top guilds. I can't do 1-71 runs every few hours, I don't have the free time (wish I did...) I play to have fun with friends and guildies when my time allows me to do so, to earn a few GP here and there and maybe unlock some cool characters, and I have been doing just that. This version is better for me because it allows me to gain MORE levels in the same amount of time, among many other things. Sure, it has some issues that need to be addressed, but it is also a solid multi-player flash game in my opinion, and I will keep playing regardless of what everyone else thinks, simply because I enjoy it.

Time for some coffee and maybe some slashing. :bouncy:

@ OP: Don't compare LS to D2... please! D2 is a broken game with a broken economy, filled with bots/hacks/kids, and it has been that way for years now. LS is quite different in my opinion, although as a multi-player game it will have the same set of issues when it comes to the social aspect.

If you want a simple/basic dungeon crawl type game, like LS used to be, I know of a few, but they are not multi-player. Feel free to PM me if you wish. :)

I think what you, new players, and some of the older players that have brain damage from too much weed are not seeing is this.

It is not so much the game play that most of us are bitching about. The community has gone to hell because of all the people who have quit do to the rediculus updates. Adding new things and tweeking a few older things to make them better are ways to make a community happy. Taking away things that we have grown used to or changing them completely is just a great way to piss most people off.

Making "stupid" contests, showing off great finds, and just having fun with the whole community used to be something that happend EVERY SINGLE DAY. now 90% of posts are flamed by noobs, no one cares is people quit, and if your not a cata queen you can kiss your ass good by if you want to play the game as it is now.

The creater used to be involved on a daily basis. Listening to us noob players and just having fun. YES ALL YOU NEWER PLAYERS.. Paul USED to be a really fun, great guy. I have always hoped to still be around when paul finally says.. TADA!! this is what i had invisioned!! I now believe that day will never come. True ideas change over the years but omfg.. from what we started with to what we have now the game isnt even slightly like it used to be.

Sorry about the rant. It just pains me to see what this community and game have turned into over the years. It is so funny and very sad to see this but.. it is now Dec. 13th. By this time there used to be atleast 10-20 christmas type threads.. ive seen one.. and thats from an old school player still hanging around for some reason.
This used to be a great way for almost decent people to hang out, play a cool game, and have fun

I have been in these parts (LS) for almost 2 years now, but yes I realize I am still "new" compared to some. Lots of the above stuff I can't really comment on, because I wasn't around, but I can see you make a lot of good points.

I can say that the one change paul made to dis-allow people with warns from posting in their respective guild chats has brought them out to the public to post here, whether it is out of boredom or what I can not say. It seems like ever since that one change, the BM / Flame posts has tripled. That's not even a gameplay change, but I have watched it impact a good portion of the posts that happen here. It is sad to see, really, people seem to get off on ruining other people's days. Combine that with huge gameplay changes, and presto-change-o, everybody gets irritated.

I did try LS way back when I first joined this site, and it was a different game. I didn't really get into it much then. Changes take place, and people will quit, but more will join, myself is case and point. I know I am not the nicest person here, nor am I a godly slasher by any means, but I do try to get people involved and playing this game rather than just wishing they would go away and flaming their posts to death. I think that is something that needs help, new people don't have many places to turn before they run into the same old assholes just +1'ing because they think they are still important. I look at when I started to get serious about this game, I had many great chats with Nev, and I am still here mainly because of the guidance and support I got when I was a newbie. If I had run into certain other people, I would have tuck tail and just ran away from this game, there really are some arrogant people here and they do drive new people away.

Anyway, the tl;dr version is that the game is changing, some of us will adapt and change with it, others will become a memory. Hopefully more new players will come to this game and embrace it for what it is, and enjoy it most importantly.

I didn't know this! Yeah, I couldn't agree more. It saddens me how this community is treating each other and I know a lot of ppl that have quit or are quitting this game as a result (to the those that troll me--This should be a glorious day for you as I'm about to be one of them). Paul doesn't deliver updates when he says (one was due Nov 7th or 1 month after his last update), Paul provides no verbal status updates to what he's doing anymore, and even the dmn help files aren't updated for the noobs. Couple this with disease infested threads on how Trolls are poisoning this community and LS has become an undesirable place for many.

Hopefully things can change and it starts with yourself. I'll provide a quote that I recently wrote that states a lot of how I feel:

Brilliant. I can't agree more with your word's of "Opportunity Cost". Finally, something intelligent to read. :)

On a sidenote: I am going to stick my neck out here and state that this community would be a much more pleasant place if we followed the Golden Rule"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."I see too many ppl being persecuted in a sense and bullied. Before I am given one excuse or another, Human Decency is ignored too often on this site. Many feel compelled to let their hedonistic behaviors shine forth as the internet's cloak of anonymity breeds thoughts that one's actions are w/o consequence. I state this in the utmost sincerity. Take a look at yourself and ask the question: "Do I regularly attack others because they are inferior in some way?" Is this a community of degenerates? The community sometimes personifies itself that way.

I regularly get trolled and attacked with each thread I make. Although I sometimes act poorly, turn the guy's words around, and find a way to cleverly belittle the person to stand up for myself--it's not right either. It's also not right to jump some guy's thread for making a viable suggestion and resort to personal attacks. Did you know the maker of this thread has a poll up in his GC as to quitting the guild?!? It's NOT right. It's NOT right to bash someone or a guild in general. I have a lot of respect for the Kirby guild and what they do for the community.

I have 3x children and let me reiterate a statement I find myself telling my 4yr old. "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."
I'm not responding to my comment, so don't bother trying to refute any part of it. I'm also bolding and coloring some major points for the uneducated, ADD'd, and all round lazy trolls who will state TL;DR and continue being a stain on this community.

Good Day

LS is like a franchise game year after year, game play doesn't change, the graphics get updated and new features are added...and people are still loyal and invest time and money into just to see the changes in a uniform or a hood of a car sponsor. I'm one of those ppl, i don't have to agree to the changes each time, i just adapt to the changes and move on. just consider this to be LS 2010. Paul Sports will release LS 2011 sometime in the spring i'm sure, pre order now.

can I keep playing the 2009 version then? Since we have no choice, I don't think your analogy holds, although I do consider it clever indeed.

I have much to say on this subject as a whole and typed a wall of text out but just deleted it...why bother?

I don't know why, but this version just doesn't seem to be fun for me. Something changed with 1.20, i think.

LS used to have numerous things you could work towards. You could have goals for profs, and go to arena and grind it out if you wanted to reach them faster. If you wanted a challenge and an 'achievement', you could decide not to enter catacombs one climb and do it all in area (speaking from a mildy-geared POV here). Me and my guildies could always work on our caster profs in the hope of being able to do one of those superfast climbs one day. The character builds you came across in catas were more varied, since if you wanted to cast in catacombs you had to solo out a number of climbs and that required decent gear. Nowadays it seem everyone is a caster, because it doesn't take prof to splash cast. casting isn't a commitment like it was last version.

LS is now just a grind towards GPs. I don't find it fun. You get on your character, look for a group, if there's a group you ctrl click until you mq, if theres no group you log off. profs aren't even worth looking at.

Some features of this version are nice (consistent groups mainly, and the caster immunes to slow the pure-caster climbs) but LS has lost its mojo for me.
