I cant believe that he nerfed axes so fucking much, right when my axe set is done lol :/

Then don't ;)

I still hope there is something more hiding in those ratios and not necessarily only dmg

Still doesn't add up for me guys.  I had 600+ average damage and crits of 1700-1800 with my 55 fighter with a 155 ee 55 axe and 128 dex/str.  That is much higher than before the update :headscratcH:

Well melee got buffed but compare with my dagger damage: 770 average with a 142 50 dagger.

Your axe is clearly better and you have more stats then I did but slammed by far in average dmg.

This is because I think:

If you get the perfect ratio, you get the highest chance of crits. So 50/50 axes/ba's 128/128 as you say would give you your peak. Not 100% sure of this though.

thats actually true, as far as i can tell from my testings.

i did some tests with swords yesterday.
having the perfect 3/1 ratio i had the most average damage and highest crits. changing it in favor of strength lowered the maximum damage of my crits and it "felt" like they occur less frequent.
it would need a few more tests, as you cant tell much with n=3
the problem is, people who tested axes obviously dont support my findings...

just find someone to do a pure str and/or pure dex stat climb and after that a climb in which you stat str/dex in a way where you end up equal, this numbers will pretty sure show the correctness of your concept :)

ah and given the possibility you're absolutely right about that that will make axes look not _that_ bad vs daggers as you will hardly be able to reach the perfect ratio with a monk or ninja (360 dex if you do not have str on your equipment, if you have it'll be even more. i still think that daggers and clubs are way OP right now but I also think clubs could use the buff as they were hardly worth anything unless insanely good with same ee they cost about 25% of what you would have paid for a sword/dagger with the same ee/stats

another idea of mine is now that if you use axes you won't profit too much from extra stats compared to other weapons, so you might wanna wear a tank armor which will not cost you as much damage as the other slashers as you seem to profit mostly from the high crit ratio :)

Isn't this the same conclusion we had from the other thread though...?

I think I'm misunderstanding something.

Thank you for info, I was under the impression that you should stay as close to the weapon ratio as possible. :)

I don't get it. The last thread had Paul stating that everyone was wrong. This thread says the SAME thing......

edit: I notice in Pauls quote he says "Bonus Effect"
