Sounds fun bro! I'm just starting back myself after a LONG time. I'm trying to secure gear atm. If you would like you're more than welcome to my guild. Its lonely all alone lol playing with someone like myself could be fun!

My time to play is limited but I love grouping when I used to play!

You could also leave anytime you want. No pressure! Send me a request if you want.

Hello.
I've wanted to give the game an honest shot for a while now but have been postponing it.

Now I feel like it's finally time but I'm kind of scared to start.

What is a good recommended starter and is my current forum gold enough to get into it? Seems like high-end endgame items are quite pricy. Not looking to min-max right away of course but I want to get a good idea of what the game is like.

Also is it better to have a guild that plays it or can you play in random parties also?

Glad to see you found a guild. Just have fun and don’t worry about buying items. Just stick to what you see in the market place for 1fg. Don’t be afraid to transmute! Goodluck on your journey. I hope you have fun. Pm me if you have any questions that aren’t answered. Happy to help.

This is terrible advice.
You should most certainly spend a little to upgrade. Because you can make it right back selling higher level muteables. +some. You just need to be able to kill high level monsters.
Only using 1fg items is either
A ) being a leech to freebies
B ) just choosing suffering.

Either way I think if you want to play ladder slasher successfully.
You are choosing to hinder yourself if you listen to this crap

Look into the experience of those giving advice please.
I wouldn't take tips from someone who's collectively killed only 50k on all toons personally.. 🤣

I've actually accumulated a few items and was lucky and found out that my vault had 25/25 items when I bought into it just yesterday, meaning I had some laying stuff from back when I played when I signed up to the site. :)
Now doing a solo run once again after a MQ fail and it feels way smoother having the vault open and constantly switching gears between every 5 levels. Already got to 20 within no time.

I'm glad. You just gotta stay vigilant and not afraid to invest in yourself.
Slow fg builds up. Items pay for themselves eventually.

Instant gratification is very rare. But there is plenty of gratification (if you keep clicking)

Here's another advice that might shape you quite well

- create a HC character and make a full solo climb only with items you find

I am sure would agree and tell you more about it ;)

Thanks for he mention... I am currently back up and running, I read most of the posts from the Original Poster (OP) and others.

Okay... Vault... this is great for 30 days or whatever, however you are a New player, you are better off buying EES (Extra Equipment Slot) gear (Tier III) as in Weapon, Armor & main charm (does not work if on ACC slot, only EE works there with restrictions of -25% to damage / heal and mana cost).

Now you think this is a joke (what I wrote in the above paragraph), so let us do the numbers.
#1 = New character = level 1 and starts with 8 slots
#2 = New character = has a Weapon / Armor & Charm (each with +3 EES) = a total of 17 slots.
#3 = New character @ level 1 can HOLD all your weapons/armor and charms up to level 15 or 20 or 25 (depending on how you [YOU] have sorted your gear.).
#4 = New character levels up to 5, if you have level 5 gear, you switch it from your inventory, go to town and transfer items to your MULE using the Marketplac FOR FREE... not your vault... repeat this to 15 or 25, and if you are onto it, you can exit game, get on your mule with level 25+ gear and transfer it to your character using the EES gear and continue on to either 45 or Master Quest (gear dependent of course... oh, and you may have higher tier items with more EES that you can switch to).

Bufcore... most likely the best way to learn the game while following the advice of others for upgrading and buy & transfer cheap items they sell on the MP to your mules to upgrade for your other character that joins full runs where you can hopefully click on a drop that is godly. You can either sell that godly item and fully equip your character(s) in further runs... or just sell it off and quit.

Starting character = Barb... a fighter is actually crap in comparison for Abilities... you don't have EE armor, so you want the ability of Retribution (charges with damage taken) and deals the same damage as Power Strike (fighter ability) and as a Barb, you can ALSO use Power Strike to charge up while attacking... so... two abilities charging up while attacking and taking damage... woot. I don't recommend a 3rd ability.

As for HC... Barb with Retribution + Salvation (WTF... am I talking about... well, it depends on your heal charms, the level in which you will be healing yourself etc... there are many variables and I am NUTS).

Hey... if you want something out of this world playing a same ol same ol game like LS (which I find fun) ... send me a PM. :D I am an odd Duck, or just a Quack.
