He's saying that Skilling should still have prof associated with it, in contrast to what woofer said. (This has nothing to do with softcore/hardcore).
His reasoning is that the people with prof have put in the time/diligence to reap the rewards (FG income/consumable items). As opposed to those who want the rewards without going through the pain of acquiring the skill.
The analogy is legitimate restaurants vs illegal/pop-up trucks. The illegal trucks are attempting to skirt the regulations and offering potentially unsafe products for a faction of the cost. They are able to offer lower prices as they do not have the overhead of hiring legitimate workers and applying for and obtaining quality inspections.

On topic, I think Core-wide Skilling prof would be nice.

Also, while you might be rich enough and in the industry long enough to prefer the restaurant with the A inspection on it, etc…most people (myself included) will happily go around the corner, pay half the price to feed my gullet, and pray that i dont need to visit the porcelain gods later).

People deathfarm in the hope to find good/sellable items at a certain lvl and dont want to go higher lvl because the drops are no better but the monsters hit harder. So i dont see how this would change death farming

Not true, they wouldn't be worthless, you would still need to find a tier 14 item to get an essence. In any case why would you even sell essences when you could just collect them to roll your own items without going through the pain of trading. Yes same thing would work for glyphing and suffusencing since you still need the source material to transform into the result, fishing and cooking you could keep as is, otherwise you would have infinite regen. Seems like you just have sunk cost fallacy from wasting untold hours watching two bars move, sorry for your loss..

He thought non skill profs would be account bound aswell and would lose prof if you died on any character is my guess

I find lvl 55 items while I'm clicking a decent amount. I just sell them. But to be able to mute them and get essences for them without taking the time to level up my Skilling to that level is just cheap and lazy. May as well just give everyone 100 prof in every category and be done with it. My muting level isn't even that high and I'm totally against what you're saying.

Not a bad suggestion just like when it was suggested before, however there were concerns because the HC community had a skill character and a playing character, thus a death would reset the skill character... unfair.

I voted NO, it only benefits Softcore once again. Also, I played SC, and I only played on one character who also Fished and Cooked and failed a muting & glyphing.

Where do you get a death resets everything? This would prevent loss of skilling Proficiency in hardcore. :bonk:

This is how I read it.

I can skill on the current character that I am playing at the time (even if it is not my skilling character) and if (IF) I find a mute-able item (for example) during my catacomb run, I can mute it at my Rank level or my skill, instead of starting at level 1 (hence the reason to transfer it to that character or put into the vault).

With that mindset in the above paragraph, and I was to DIE on my playing character, I lose all Profs, Ranks and Items ... this would also mean the same thing for all my skills.

How are you suggesting it? For Hardcore you don't lose any Skill ranks from a Death, even if it was your Main skill character that dies because with how I read it, I can play in a catacomb with it.

Did I not speak in english here? I'm confused... since it would be account driven for the profs, if you die... you keep all of the prof...

Weapons, charms etc shouldn't be account driven but single character driven. If you die on hc you lose all your prof on that character excluding skilling prof.
