So far there have been some good / bad / ridiculous suggestions and post.
I may take my "Rental" suggestion and the positive / negative responses, and make a thread.
This way, it will remove some of the posts in here and possibly leviate others qualms.

this game is easier for newcomers now than it ever has been; there's not much more you can do to make it easy to get into
- you can buy slightly below average - average gear for close to nothing on both realms
- despite being trolls on the forums, most of the heavy hitters on HC will accept newbs into groups as long as they're clicking
- if you do find a group, you can mq in 2 hours. once you get a couple under your belt, most guilds have gear to spare
if you really want more players, tell paul to figure a way to interface the game with facebook for a larger distribution
