Well, I tend to pretty much 1-3 hit kill each monster in a catacomb exploring. A wave for solo ranges from 1-3 monster(s) spawning, if I am 1 hit killing each monster with my weapon, I have around 20% chance (based on Bigheaded's tests) to gain 1 prof point = so if I one(1) hit kill, I either get 0 or 1 prof point.
Evil Presence can take longer to kill, and depending on my character level at the time, I can kill an EP ranging from 1-5 hits, on some occasions, it maybe 7-9 attacks.
Welling Monsters ... I use a method to kill off the Well monster within 10-12 actions (melee attacks) and I gain the maximum of 10 prof points 99% of the time ... this is because I use Heavy Weapons.
I also use healing to obtain the rest of the prof points per wave to gain maximum ... say I get 1 prof point from my melee attack and the monster (1) is left alive and I will cast heal on myself to gain another 5-9 prof points, also, healing has a 70% chance to gain a prof point when you use it compared to 20% chance for Melee. (Again, based on Bigheadeds' tests)
And yes, I am more interested in gaining prof points than leveling up to Master Quest fast.
