I think the prof gain is fine, personally. It's supposed to take forever, but it's just not rewarding which makes it a drag based on it taking forever. I was talking about it the instant mute happens for reroll, so you'd lose all the prof points from not getting profs for reroll, so I was saying double the points for making an essence to even it out.

I understand what you're saying.
But you would only be losing prof if the change was 'rolling with essences was instant and never gave prof exp'.
I agree with what Nic is suggesting; or making it instant if you've outranked it. Either of those would be a less intrusive change to how transmuting works, while it gives muters a reasonable time frame to actually use essences whether it's on items or by selling them.
What you're suggesting is a buff to gaining exp faster and also the ability to roll essences instantly, that's a big change at once.

I like JonWon's idea about being able to insta-roll items below your current rank. Although, the thing with it being optional is also great, but I feel a bit like I would always use it just because I can and it would slow down my progress by a whole lot... because who doesn't love that instant gratification :thumbsup:

I'd love to see either option implemented.

If you double the exp and double the time, that's 10 minutes for 1 item converted to 1 essence.

This means we need more items to convert, so muteables and essences are both in more demand than if we were to simply double the exp/time.

Essence and Muting needs an overhaul if it takes that long to Mute 1 item, which doesn't include hunting time other than guild transferring or buying them, it is a POINTLESS skill to work on for new players.

Your suggestion and NR1's is decent, but it is just a band aid as time is a factor. The player base on both cores is too low, the only ones that profit are those that are already proficient and in active guild(s) where they are supporting each member. Don't bother going into costs, so you sell an essence for 1fg, then you buy an item(s)s for 1fg ... the ONLY thing that is benefiting is what Paul wants to happen... forum gold sink will always win.

1. I was speaking to ahs_darkhunter's comment in that quoted comment of mine, you took it out of context.
2. Please stop providing misinformation for new players and stop trying to deter new skillers from transmuting and leave this specific topic of transmuting to those who actually transmute. I'm trying to be nice here, but stay in your lane.

Not everyone plays LS like you, not everyone skills like me, not everyone who transmutes buys off the MP, and not everyone who transmutes ONLY uses their essences on items to re-roll.
You are suggesting a major overhaul to transmuting on the basis that it should be like catacomb'ing prof? What? They are mutually exclusive.

3. "the only ones that profit are those that are already proficient". or in other words, the only ones that profit are those who actively transmute and have endured years of effort to EARN their proficiency and where they are currently at.
And that "profit" is complete speculation, because you have to be incredibly, incredibly lucky just to find a great item transmuting.

What Nic and I are suggesting is beneficial to everyone in the community.
This change would honor those who have put in years of transmuting time, and it makes transmuting a much more appealing skill to all players.
4. It also allows those who do NOT transmute the opportunity to "find sell-able items to increase my funds to purchase an upgrade" as you said yourself.

Those "sell-ables" you will be finding, now have a much higher demand since skillers will need more items for essences, and those "upgrades" you want to purchase - may actually be found now that old and new transmuters will finally be able to get around to using up their essences.
It's a win-win for everyone, even for Paul since it now sinks forum gold further with the market tax.
