Don’t HC players do that thing where they keep another tab open to boot themselves from a catacomb incase of a dc or is that an old thing?

I believe that's part of the point. If you want out, hit the door, and log out (or create and leave group). Simply tab-snapping it is no longer a solution (and never should have been in the first place).

Yeah this isn't possible now. The second tab or even f5(chicken) methods were never intended to be a mechanic to run from a fight. Glad that it's finally fixed, it can truly be considered Hardcore now. This is quite common in may games, d3, WOW even. There is no instant method to be removed from the live world (except in ls with the door back to town).

Also, I don't know if you play HC, but a quick pro-tip on door delays...

When you're attacking a mob, your first click on a door, by default, stops your attack. The second click activates the door. Causes a notable delay in getting out, as a result of the continued attack setting.

If you want to remove the delay and have a better chance of getting to town, Disable the hold auto attack feature, seen here:
