If once a month Paul could take two minutes to post an update on how the LS development is going, his plans for the next patch, response to suggestion topics or just show us that he still cares I think people would calm down a ton and be more patient.

He released 1.29 , communicated with the community for some feedback, changed up a few things and fixed a few bugs, and we haven't heard from him since (and this was over 7 months ago)

It's not enough to say that you still care, sometimes you have to show it

e; and no, private PM conversations with Rick don't count unfortunately...

this is along the lines of what i was getting at.
Having this post left open/reopened. gives some hope that our crys are being heard.
But without a post from the man it means nothing.

Yea, this post initially was bashing the cons about the game, but once i saw Paul browsing, it did give hope and we should now, instead of mentioning game cons, start giving criticizing comments in hopes Paul will read it and take them into account.

(Edit): Would you guys be pro if we asked to start a sub-forum for development for Ladder Slasher, so we can have a more concentrated are of ideas Paul can go to if in fact he were interested in improving Ladder Slasher?

This is the best suggestion of this thread.

I would love a monthly status update. Hell even if it's a 'sorry guys couldn't work on LS this month, blah blah blah' at least we are kept in the loop. It would be nice to get some insight to what the next update would include 'graphics update' 'experience modification' 'monster abilities' and an expected ETA of when the update would be released :) :) please please please

Mate I know you are trying to be nice, and I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I purposely left all emotions out of my first post when I stated my opinions about the game. The way your post comes off is disregarding all of my opinions while quoting a fortune cookie. I'd like my opinions to matter instead of being shut down with a smile.

I'm not upset, just a note for next time since I know you were sincerely trying to be nice probably. Listening/discussing is better then saying "Forget all that stuff! Rainbows!"

I'll address this more directly for you now as my point was misunderstood. I was trying to set an example with my attitude. For me, it's the form of what you said that needed to be addressed. Regardless of content (whichever part of the game you bring up), the point is the same: if you focus on things you cannot control and call them problems, you won't find solutions. Whether or not there's an arena, whether the Vault is free or costs a billion FG or doesn't exist, whether Paul speaks to the LS community or not ... absolutely none of it is within your control. Therefore, complaining and worrying about it solves nothing. It's actually ALL in Paul's control in this case, and if you want to help change the game, change how you approach it. It's 100% fine to make suggestions, provide contructive criticism, give feedback about changes, etc., but to put what you want to see in the form of a complaint just because you can't directly change it yourself just leads to greater misery. Try playing the game differently or bringing something new and exciting into the community. Or, if you really hate it and don't want to help build the community and potentially contribute to the game's success (and perhaps future updates), then quit.

I think you care enough to complain. The question is whether you care enough to be an example of the change you want to see in the community.

I am completely open to discussing the game but I hope you can see that if the conversation turns to being about what you think sucks about the game, I don't find it constructive. So of course I will flip it around and ask you to consider what can actually be done (by you) to improve your situation. If you would like direction about how I'd approach your concerns (in your situation), I'm all for it. But that is just to say that I am a highly skilled problem solver who happens to know almost nothing about LS.

tbh I think it would be cool if everyone just elected someone to bring together the "best of the best" suggestions from LS in a quick, easy-to-read & digest format (idea- link - five word description x each idea ... NO complaints, bitchings, etc) and have that person send the results once a month (or less often) to Paul. The right person with the right attitude and approach would surely reach him at some point. Maybe he would be willing to reply and the chosen representative could post the response to the community, but it starts with making an appropriate first step and being willing to lay the groundwork for improvement that everyone--including Paul--invites.

It's unfortunate that so few people seem to care to know what Paul envisions for the game and the community. Think about the "other side" ;)

I disagree because I don't think it's really fair to keep asking Paul to take steps to address stuff when nobody has taken the time to do what I suggest above.

We could also ask ourselves what we as constant/experienced players could do to attract more newcomers. If we expect changes, we should be worth it.
Pretty sure that is more important than any update for the basic gaming experience stays the same. Doing good stands over repeating complaints.

Agree over 9000 with this.

E: and hey, Paul has posted recently guys: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=71403213&f=272
Nice to see this interaction along with some others. As you can see he cares what people think and he wants to keep improving the game. For future reference I hope everyone will notice the points he emphasizes because those are points where constructive input may help. I stand by what i said about the community environment. It can't just be a cycle of demand & complain. It's about fostering & growth.

This is not meant as a Complaint or a flame, It's intent is to be Constructive and i hope it's taken that way.

The item drop system sucks.
In the current state of the game new players have a really hard time with gear, even at level134 (the highest i've climbed) most items dropped are tier1.
the fact that this game uses the forum gold system instead of an in game gold system makes matters worse because there is no chance of finding gold to buy items from the maketplace.
So it pushes players to rely on the community, who as a whole are not very welcoming to new players.

If the item drop system is changed, the market will be flooded, prices will drop, and the long time players will feel slighted.

so long story short, It's up to us to help if we want new players. (or have all our precious gear devalued)

I am extremely happy and in agreement to see posts such as these, This is EXACTLY what we as a community can and need to start doing.
Everyone has been so busy trying to bring up ways to the creator of the game on how to fix it, We are missing what WE can do to help..

This is the attitude that will help change and shape the game and community..
