I still believe that this game has just completely ditched the new or casual player.

I only play a few hours a week and I'll be digging into my savings to afford new daggers on my first sammy climb. I don't play enough to have a decent chance of finding an item i can sell for a fortune.

IMO new players without fg from other games simply won't have a chance of ever getting into this game. Most likely the best thing they'll find on a climb is a tier 1 legendary which they may be able to get 10fg for... if they're lucky. That's not enough to fund a climb. Or for someone to eventually work up to upgrading equipment.

One will either get utter shit form a climb, or get lucky and make a fortune. But there will be a lot more non-profit climbs than profitable ones.

not true you can sell a couple tier 1 arcane items for 5 fg which is more then most mutes were going for i was buying 40/45 mutes for 2/3fg a piece with the old system so there is still fg to be made with the new system

if ur to the point where u solo and thats the main thing you do then this update didnt really effect you
maybe you wont make the fg u did before off of selling high lvl mutes, but if u have the gear to solo to mq then u really dont need the constant flow of selling mutes for fg
there are a ton of people that would kill just to have a setup they could solo with 1-71

are you kidding me?
you SC guys are ridiculous
on HC we solo with gear you guys might just throw on mp for 19.99
so to say that we don't need upgrades because we can solo is a stupid ignorant statement
I can solo 1-71 pretty fast by HC standards
but theres still tons of improvment I could make on my gear
example: now on my monk I'm using a 25int staff from levels 35 to 71, a weapon that has the amount of int you could possibly find on a level 10 item
so don't come here telling me that since I can solo 1-71 I don't need more fg to upgrade my gear

my only thought is that with muting taking so long now to make any sort of real profit... 570 or whatever days ideally... then is it really worth it to think that by the time you either get to that high a prof level or damn close to it the ladder resets... what then... you have lets say how many lvl 50 items you were muting to get ya almost to the top and you get shot back down.

imo thats not worth it

but hey im new w/e.... flame on

*Please note that these calculations includes assumptions that will be listed for clarity

*Assumptions
--> Every mute attempt is successful
--> Points gained per mute and time per mute fit in the given time frame

http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/qq295/bubbachunkrr/lsmuting.jpg

A little clarification
--> Column 1 would be the average prof points gained per mute completed/attempted
--> Column 2 indicates the time it takes per mute to complete the process
--> Column 3 is how many mutes are need to reach lvl 65 prof based on points per mute from column 1
--> Columns 4-7 are how long (in hours) needed to complete the number of mutes from column 3

What does this tell me?
Even at the best conditions (15 points per mute, no failures, and only 15 seconds per each mute) it will take approximately 596 hours of game play to be able to be able to mute magical lvl 55 items again. In other words if you would play 4 hours a day every day and get peak conditions (not likely) it will still take ~150 days to reach lvl 65. A more accurate assumption would be somewhere around 5-7 points per mute and 30 seconds leaving you with 2128 hours of game play needed or 531 days at 4 hours a day.

*Lastly this does not take into account the time it takes to find the mutes or the fg it will cost the buy the mutes.
Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

I almost have lvl 2 Prof and from what I have seen so far "DUMB LUCK" seems to have more to do with a success then Proficiency!
I hope njaguar intends on fixing things so the Proficiency actually works more so then what seems to be "DUMB LUCK"

thx

Paul already stated that more updates regarding the new mute system will be comming in the last update notes. I for one like the change so far.

He also stated that he spends very little time on this game.I can't believe that you even think he cares about what you think.

Please remember, LS is by far not the only thing I work on, and in fact, only a tiny % of my time unfortunately
