I feel if Paul were to investigate and fix the problem, A LOT of players would return to LS; moreso HC..

I played a bit of sc when i first started oh so many years ago, but found that i enjoyed the challenge of HC more.. ( to NOT RIP).. granted ive had a few situations where i have ripped ( my own fault, a lag rip years back, and earlier this year; a rip due to being "cata locked" from 3x ep stunners).. yeah ive lost gear and chars that are still showing on the ladder. Im still grinding away even with the diminishing numbers on HC.

reading and looking into it myself the reasons behind the 1006's could be any of the following;

~ websocket error in coding right at cloudflare
~ VPN lag?
~ overloaded network servers/switches
~ old servers (needing upgrades or replacement)
~ a virus somewhere within the jsp network/servers
~ ISP throttling

could be many other reasons behind it but needs investigation..

i know i had mentioned an idea way back that sc/hc should have their own dedicated servers, so if for example someone resets on sc, it would not affect anyone on hc. would also alleviate server load between the cores on a single server.

for me; this lag and constant 1006's is SOLELY on jsp/ LS. i get no lag while downloading/uploading torrents, or any other site/game online. i have fibre 1.5Gb connection now and havnt had any issues on any other site since upgrading to it a little over a year ago.

how is torrents a problem exactly? torrents dont even use 1/10th of my bandwidth. the 1006's happen even when i dont have my torrents running, so please explain your reasoning?

My client is staying connected. I guess the "a virus somewhere within the jsp network/servers" doesn't impact me

2 climbs is quite the sample size you're basing that off of.

Ask your ISP :)

Most of the data transfer happens outside d2jsp website, you have many handoffs from point of server to your PC, and packet loss can occur anywhere. I'm sure the admins can monitor total disconnects across the board and holistically determine if its a system issue.

You are talking about packet transfer through portals. As an example, my Cloudflare connection disconnects in Melbourne Port. However, I am uncertain if Cloudflare re-routes it to say Perths Portal to Auckland or Christchurch before it goes through another local portal (Waikato).

I think this is where you are coming from, I have a higher number of Ports because I am in New Zealand and the number of ports are increased because of the distance to the Server... YET. I don't notice the number of 1006's because of my timezone, but when I wake up to a game that I kept up over night... I see the 1006's when I was asleep. HOWEVER, I may have more issues compared to others that are closer to the server.

NOTE: I am thinking you are referring to this, there are people that have setup their connection / ports manually, I haven't.

EDIT: Oh... as for Uploading torrents, they run on a different server and the ports can be different, so NO, that is not a real issue for 1006's for higher end computers than my 1 gb PC, I am just lucky I have a decent ISP.

What are you even talking about? A "high end" pc has nothing to do with network traffic, nor do servers or ports. Do you think all of your data is being handled by a unique server based on the type of data it is? If you are constantly uploading and download torrents, you are adding lots of packets over all your journey networks, which includes all nodes between start point and end point. The fact that the "torrents are not impacted, so it must be d2jsp" is illogical - torrents have a mechanism to request missing or corrupted packets of data. Who knows what the trigger threshold for d2jsp to disconnect a player is - but successfully doing activity A simultaneously while failing activity B does not prove activity B is impacted, or exonerate your networks.

If you suspect packet loss is the culprit, set up a ping to an echo enabled server like googles DNS and get some actual data :)
