you are right man, i have tried the game before for more than 1 week . ( i think 2 ladders )
and i did find part of the community problematic at that time and the game not beginner friendly

just wanted to try this game for a second time. this and get 2 of my friends into it; but some people here are so rude and aggressive and you are a good example here; i think ill skip it

so i play for a week now at hardcore and made it to level 60 spending 4 forum gold for a lvl45 weapon. thanks god i managed to earn some fg otherwise i would stop around level 40-50 because the gear for respective level simply doesn't drop (i still use a plain level 35 plate mail).

what im trying to say it's nearly impossible to reach 71 solo as a new player without spending.

e: to make it clear im not saying we should be able to blaze through dungeons rushing max level as a f2p in couple hours. but it should be doable at all in a slow pace. thats just my point of view tho.

you have to accept how that game works. not many good drops, and you need many time to make your charakter strong.
in my opinion there are some strategies to do that.
the best for me if i have to begin is:
1)dont collect guild points
2)use every skill in the game (glyphing, fishing, muting suffering)
3)play the game till you cant kill monsters with max 10 clicks
4)reroll @25-30 and make your skills great and then you are able to mute some medi stuff, fish and you are faster, glyph and you are stronger
5)you get stronger and stronger and then you make monster@ higher level

yes i believe the glyph and mute skills are very powerful in the long run but it probably takes years to get to that point and feels very unrewarding early given that its easy to work with 1-30 gear even if its blank

thats the point. you have to accept that you need years
but if you start this game with zero fg you will find easy some gear that you bring till level 25
and you will find medi gear if ou do that 50-60 times
if you have suffering and muting on rank 15 you are able to do rare essences tier 4 and mute tier 5 items
and with a dagger tier 5 80 ee you will able to do level 25 monsters

and so you have collect your items till you can do level 35 monsters and so on

but it doesnt make sence to try level 55 monsters with a level 20 sword or so
no one will see that as a fun game then

ill try to level a char alone again. will invest if i have to, no problem

i just dont think new players expect it to be a few years progression (or rather grind at this point) game. they just want to have a short term fun and the fun is gone after a couple rerolls

thats the wrong game for a bit fun

you have a bit fun when you drink some long island and play that game with your friends in a group and your are drunk^^

on softcore

best to start this game is just grinding and selling skillables (you need knowledge about what kind of skillables are selling and you can make a good amount of fg each climb) and buy low ee weapons for cheap on the market; most important part is to get weapons and armors for at least every 10 levels

just as an example even low ee gear like 50-60ee from lvl 30+ is already helping to increase your killing speed by a lot, weapons like that are selling for maybe 1-10fg, a 50-60ee armor or even a clean armor each 5 level makes you a lot more tanky and faster as well

you can pretty much sell every lvl 15+ item arcane+ on the market; from level 35+ pretty much all rare+ are selling; it's all about following the market and test what is selling for how much and you can easily finance a full low ee 1-55 gear setup in a decent amount of time

also a really easy way to make fg if you're completely new to the game; search for low level maps with guild points and wells T1-T3 are selling pretty good; not 100% familiar with the well map prices atm but normally they sold for around 30-50fg each quantity (look out for the event mod +X% Quality to Maps Found, this is helping to find better maps)



full 1-mq group climbs is nothing to aim for if you're completely new to the game, also shouldn't be the purpose of playing ls if the only plan is to get carried to mq by others without doing any contribution to the climb. Once you got yourself enough gear for a full 1-mq climb joining groups makes sense, easiest way to get into groups for new/low geared players is to have a tank armor set and just stat full vitality and stay front.
