I don't see why it can't be done already.
There's got to be a program or app out there that turns a controller into a mouse, using the d-pad or joystick for the movement, and some of the buttons for r/l click. You may even be able to customize the other buttons to be shift, control, and alt, etc.

If there isn't an app, make one and patent it. It seems like it could be useful for a variety of programs

Ps4 controllers have the track pad in the middle which acts like the track pad on laptop so you can move the cursor and left or right click. It may be doable currently but its definitely not optimized to do so. plus the item drop window would be painfully awful to navigate.

Hm. Doesn't steel series make a controller?
Pretty sure you can map all buttons on controller to do what you want.
Steel Series engine allows me to map my left and right click to whatever I want...
Look into steel series stuff. In fairly sure I have a spare controller honestly.
Could open it and check it if you really want to play on a controller that bad.

It's also got this weird wii-mote looking thing in it.
