You look new. You can’t compete with these people that do 4+ mq per day…

Swords are cheaper and will get you through to monk. At which point you can decide if you actually want to invest and play. Can get daggers then if you want to compete, or ee staffs if casual. Swords can be used again on ninja. In the unlikely event you make it to warlock, you will need casting staffs, robes, charms. In the more unlikely event you make it to head hunter, you’ll need axes.

But realistically, you’ll play a week or two and quit, so tread carefully.

Also you’re poor. LS is a rich mans game to compete in.

Well the most "efficient" in terms of how many items is casting all classes with lightnings.
Can do all classes in ~5-6 Int/mana daggers or swords + int/mana axes + int staffs =15-18 total.
5-6 Int/mana robes.
12 lightning charms can possibly skip one or two of those also
~7 wild heal charms, very rare for people to use one for every level, something like 1,10,20,25,35,45,55 is generally adequate.
So can be done in under 50 items for pretty complete sets, but casting on every single class isn't recommended till you play the game some more

However, you should really consider what your purpose is for playing the game.
Finding items and making fg? Why bother collecting all these sets when you only need 1 set?
I use polearms/dex items on HC and don't even bother climbing anything other than barb. To play samurai + pally i could add daggers, if i add robes can then also play monk/ninja, but generally more important to get 1 good set first than collect items for 5 different classes.

If you're aiming to play each new class you unlock then you don't have much choice.
However i would generally recommend either swords+staffs or daggers+clubs over daggers+axes.

Lets talk prices for lets say 150ee level 55 items
Axe ~5000+ fg
Dagger ~5000+ fg
Sword ~3500+ fg
Club ~2000 fg
Staff ~2000 fg

You can see the point i'm making here.
Also given everyone here recommended daggers and axes, guess what everyone is buying? daggers and axes, there's significant amounts of unused staffs, heck had a 8x ee one level 25 on the market for 10 fg for weeks.

I suppose I used efficient in terms of character playing ability rather than item slot efficiency. Hard enough to find good off-cast items, especially for someone brand new.

Holy guac lots of responses.
Going to take the time to read them later and decide.

The biggest point I saw was my reason for playing. That's a question I didn't think of at first.
It's just a challenge to see how far I could get and this thread is basically my reality check for how much FG I need to spend to get to alchemist.
I've got a long way to go in terms of glyphing, suffing, and transmuting.
I probably won't be able to hit alch for years with my home life.
But I appreciate all the help and tips. Seems like a lot of people have had the same question but are further in their LS "career" than I.

As simple as LS is, it's easy to get addicted to. Specially when you make friends with those who play. When I started I had absolutely shit to play with as far as gear went, and didn't have a clue how to play for the most part. But effort and trying to learn got me noticed, and in time came better gear. This is def not a game for the poor, which sucks, that's true. But it's still pretty fun.

I mean you can farm with no ee gear. Especially with it being available on mobile. During my 10m work breaks I login and slap a couple monsters and regen in town rinse and repeat. The only thing I'm worried about is how long it's going to take to get my non combat profs up. It takes forEVER

Alternatively, you can play bufcore and not spend a dime and rake in the FGeezz

I thought about doing this on a second character.
Also starting a HC character because why not.
I did my mission of at least passing 1 MQ so I'm open to all this.

I don't want to compete. I want to complete the challenge of getting to alchemist.
I've been playing for almost a month already. I have a job, 2 kids, and a small farm lol.
I have plenty of ways to get 100s of thousands of FG. I also lean towards the "sunk cost fallacy" and will subject myself to ritual abusive behaviors just so the money I spent was seemingly that much more worth it.
I know I'm not going to be able to reset the ladder against guilds that have years of pre-planned experience and decide when/what they want things to be but I'll be damned if I'm not going to try to enjoy the little bit of spare time I have to spend on JSP and it's browser game.
I don't have the time to play D2R to farm HRs and all that. Impossible to get scammed out of my FG on LS as the MP is the point way I can buy high end stuff that I can always resell for a discount and recoup my losses.
You're thinking of LS in a whole different way than I am.

What he means is getting to alchemist unless you’re either very lucky or doing 3 mqs a day is very unlikely before the ladder resets.

When someone passes the mq as alchemist everyone will start back over on the first class. So you’re in a race to get through the classes whether you want to be or not :D

Think you are better off with HC in this case, there aren't many players that group up, nor is there an abundance of items. You basically use more Vita because you don't want to die and lose gear. You can take your time and enjoy how you want to play.

Oh, I would suggest at least spending like 1fg on one(1) Tier III item with like 170+ Max life, will easily get to level 10 when you have spent points into vita from start. But I am sure you will work out what you require as the Mechanics are the same, just a different approach to not dying... basically exit cata around 50% hit points unless you have good heals / int etc.
