I mean, if you already have gear that'll get you to 30-40+ with no or little shrining needed, I wouldn't do that, myself. Melee is far more fun than casting up through 30, possibly as late as 40, when it boils down to it. Just depends on your gear.



Eh, he's asking about solo play, not group. My assumption here is that he's just interested in solo. So it's different math, on the efficiency.

i mean anyone can do it, its if you can do it efficiently is the real question

you need to 1, find the gear to do so
and 2, be ready to HEAVILY invest in said gear to actually be useful to a group

to give you some idea on prices:
Fires cost me 74k
heals ~15k
robes ~ 10k (got the MQ cheap though, you'll be able to get same sorta set but without the mind numb at same sorta price), main issue is locating a semi decent offcast robe, other options include fish which then adds a 3-20 fg cost to every MQ run, if you're solo'ing with gear at this sorta level you should be able to just shrine literally everything and not need to use regen gear at all. Can't remember the last time i used regen gear.
A huge issue is locating very good mana + intel items. Locating anything similar to that lvl 20 dagger is going to cost a lot.

Hopefully that gives you some idea of whats good enough. I can cast from lvl 0 with samurai if i wanted, i just would choose to melee to 20 if solo'ing, even in groups i melee to level 10 in most games.

InsaneBobb is correct, and it is aids because of the abilities you will be able to use that charge up with Casting, so you will be expending more points into two abilities... example: (excluding Mage / Warlock / Alch; who have casting abilities.) Powercast + Salvation = 6 points each = 40% charge up by character level 55 (12 points).

From 55 upwards, do you want a 3rd ability? or increase the 2 you have.
1 point to any one of those abilities = 46% (level 60) +1 point = 51% (level 65) ... +1 point = 55% (level 70) Samurai / Paladin.

Honestly, I find casting solo so much faster, even before when I had worse gear for casting.

Like everyone has mentioned soloing to 20-30 is the way to go. But after that it’s pretty easy to grab shrines and fill up inv, go to town, shrine up, and hop right back into the cata. I generally don’t have to regen. At levels 70+ it can be slower if you are Sammy+, but melee is also super slow at those levels (much slower imo). If you can get a 150+ ee mq charm, you will be fine Imo.

I found that even with a 209ee mq sword, my old 178ee mq charm killed faster on every class (same with 186ee sword vs 150ee charm).

Casting kills a lot quicker, but requires more shrinning, while melee you have to go to town way less, but killing is a lot slower.

I will caveat all of this if you play on mobile. I find casting on mobile a really huge pain as skills are harder use, and the shrine is very slow to use lol.

It seems like you’re asking 4 different questions here. 2 in your title and 2 in your thread.

1. Full caster? Yes doable
2. Is it worth it? Define “worth it”. Will it cost you a lot of fg to get a good caster? Yes. Will it take you awhile to find these items for all your different characters? Also yes. If you spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year playing this style, Will it get you to reset the ladder and become supreme leader? Maybe if you’re lucky enough…..
3. Is it viable? Yes
4. Can you still kill quickly? 200 ee charm will destroy any monster easily except 4 corners ep will be a small struggle.

I believe my gear constitutes as casting every character. I do not remember but I believe I asked the same question when I played.

It will definitely cost you a pretty penny.

I think it is doable, possible, viable and with right gear also best and fastest clear-speed. But we are talking here with top notch equip.
