i still think powerstrike is a must have if you're exploring, the ability to just hit a single ep for huge damage is too good to pass up. If you whistle the entire way then doublestrike is usually better.
Doublestrike is generally next best. Jump attack is certainly an option.
Salvation is again an option.

As some idea of how useful jumpattack is, when facing 2 mobs, it's a 1 in 4 chance they are lined up in a column, when facing 3 mobs, its a 19 in 28 chance that at least 2 are lined up, so jumpattack is going to be used reasonably often and can be used to kill single EP's. Seeing it's blue on ninja it'll charge faster than doublestrike, so worth trying out if you do not use /set easy 1. If you use easy mode then doublestrike is far better. I probably facked the maths there but cba to redo it.

That makes sense. Going to try double strike/power strike, and jump attack later on (level 71+ I can't easy :( )

Bigheaded gave good advice about Powerstrike. And this is why one of the options to choose is Powerstrike + Retribution, they BOTH deal the same damage but charge up differently.

Basically;
... Retribution has a % chance to charge up when hit (0's don't count) while you are attacking and Powerstrike has a % chance to charge up when using weapon (0's don't count Unless this got changed) ... as for which one you should select first, during the early stages, it is Powerstrike and then retribution as you will be getting hit more often at higher levels.

the issue with charge-on-hit-taken abilities is you have to wait for yourself to take damage, so it's realistically only available when you're lower on hp. robe classes already have low survivability, so you're regening to full hp, dropping hard on hp for an 8% charge and hoping to have enough charged to do some damage before you have to town...

Good point, there is also this point:
8% vs 10% ... this has been the backbone of the replies... yes 10% per successful Hit Roll is good @ 1 second vs 1 mob, it is also viable that 8% per successful Hit Roll vs 2 (=16%) or vs 3 (24%) per second is by far better. As you stated, Robed character gets hit and takes damage, and frequently.

So at low levels you would pump Powerstrike because you kill faster and because you take less damage while pumping up Vitality (not so great if you start pumping Strength or Dexterity with a low vita build solo'ing with a robed character).

EDIT: before you think I am arguing with you, I am not (read first line), I am only pointing out a different way that the user may prefer with their playstyle... just like Salvation is good, and while healing, Retribution & Salvation charge up... so you have 2 abilities able to use when charged @ 75% to deal damage and increase the heal capacity.
