Hi got a question about the class monk.
Is it better to play the padded robe with ee or with dex, because it doesn’t have a lot of def at all?

i run with ee padded robe, works very good and allows me to stay longer to charge up the abilities. 70vita, 40int rest in dex

always it depends how good is your gears, there is more than one way here. abilities in percent; powerstrike 51, doublestrike48, salvation rest

i skill salavation as the last skill because i dont need it before 55 ;)

I’ll just speak for myself because there is not just one way to do it

I shoot for 85-100 vita depending on the event. 100 if it’s an event that adds difficulty like EPs or such. I do only Double strike and salvation, shooting to have salvation statted enough to be very effective at around lvl 50.

I run all dmg gear until around lv 70ish and then switch to a good EE padded til MQ. I had a full padded set and sold everything below MQ because I never used it below lvl 70. I just prefer that play style at lvl 70+

It’s only worth doing if you have a very good EE padded. Just like salvation is only good if your heal is really good imo

The way BH mentioned of OCing monk can be good but requires very good gear as well. OCing monk is kinda the opposite struggle, earlier levels can be a bit of a grind but the later levels easier.

I usually go 85-100 vit, stat double/powerstrike

Use dex robes

Beat the heck out of things

Call it a day.

EDIT: I don't like using salvation on melee, but it's just personal preference.

Also, fish can be your best friend.

Another style you can do is the way of casting.
sometimes i put the first 10 points into vita, then the rest into int and add the mage abilities (pierce, pillar, power cast)
i go with melee gear and switch to casting at lvl 40-55. At higher lvls i do quite a bit more dmg casting so i am faster with killing the monsters. Again gear is the key ofc.
Good if you get extra warmlights with event or maps

That's exactly the way i go, powercast and salvation only, melee 1-30, casting 30-77, but i stat vita later as i need mana more than life at early lvls. I find it easier to cast at high lvls, yet i still need to shrine/mana regen from time to time

Interesting.

I was going to try using high EE robes and see how it goes, sounds like it won't work.

How come it doesn't work though? People use plates, and robes are just the opposite (melee armor = magic armor). Is there a lot more melee monsters?

It enhances the defence already in the armor, and since robes have low defence it just doesn’t work as well. Also the kill speed you get from adding dexterity to your daggers will be beneficial for sure.

There are many ways to stay your character, and none are wrong unless you are using vitality gear. Vitality is a great stat when you stay it yourself because it gives you physical defence and life. But when it’s on equipment it only adds physical defence

Definitely gear oriented.

Level 1 Upwards:

Salvation will be @ 40% by lvl25, where it will come in handy from here upwards and you can work on an Attack Ability... if using Staff/Daggers, Doublestrike is a great option and 3 points (48% by level 40) ... personally I would add 1 more point to Doublestrike and rest in Salvation.

Stats: Vitality to 75 then pump Int to 30 (if using 100% EE or more Heal type charms, no less) ... then you pump Vitality to 100 and any remainder to Dex.

Also... personally prefer Stat padded robes.
