Originally I did the dying thing just when I was running a nice, big map that I didn’t wanna out-level. Then I decided that it would be a really great way to finally do the best objective No Maze No More! Because, let’s face it... you aren’t gonna do No Maze No More unless you can extend your climb... solution was dying to drop EXP until you put in the 100+ hours it takes to get EE done.
Once I figured out how I would unlock NMNM, I decided that I wouldn’t have any chance of killing NMNM unless I could make my character as strong as a whole team... that’s when I started buying mass potions (to my knowledge, that was the first time there was a real demand for them... everyone thought I was crazy to waste my fg on potions...). So I set up a 1-season character: Screened, the strongest rogue ever? ...over 3 years ago, and ran it with dying to reset exp for the whole season. This character was kept that way to make use of potions, to actually do NMNM and additionally to find out how hard EPs were down 16 trapdoors (answer: hard, but pointless because drops were t1s lol).
It took me 3 years to gather up enough potions for round 2, but I did just that last season, on my magician Dontalk. Because of the rewrite, I feel like drops were a lot better and people started talking. I’ve seen it quite a few times, “play like BW” or worse, “play like BWC” (damnit my name is BW Conformity, not BWC onformity)... or worse yet, “like BWM” lol who is BWM? Okay, anyway, The point is, I don’t believe that just creating a random char with a specific level and dying over and over to stay that level for farming gear is something we should try to encourage, since nice gear can drop at ANY level in this game. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing the game your own way, but without a special reason, I don’t think it deserves special consideration. I do think we should make objectives like NMNM more accessible by making prereq spawn rates achievable within the timeframe of a climb, without dying over and over to keep getting chances at spawning those objectives... but yeah, this style of play is something I did for 2 seasons, and I’ve played quite a few! I vote no mate.
tldr BMW says no
